Wow CoTwin - time sure flies!  Good luck to him and I'm sure you'll enjoy having him around for a bit.  I don't blame him for wanting to get back to Hawaii - sun vs snow - easy decision lol!  Keep us updated on how things go for him - and how is your Alaska son doing?

Comment by CO-TwinSalorsMom on March 13, 2019 at 12:28pm

Well my nuke is getting ready to be released from the navy. He will be moving in with me till he gets settled in College. He was accepted in CU Boulder and will be majoring in Electrical engeneering then plans to go on to get a masters. He has mixed feelings on leaving Hawaii, I have a feeling he eventually may move back there as he loves the ocean and the nice weather.

It will be great to have him here for a while.

Aw NancyJo - sorry to hear you've been sick :(  I hope you are on the mend and starting to feel a little better.  The flu is no fun that's for sure!  I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that things change and your son is able to visit along with his wife and the littles.  Maybe you'll have to make a trip to Charleston!  And I will agree - this has been a terrible winter.  One storm after another - crazy weather - ugh!

Comment by NancyJo (NNPTC) on March 13, 2019 at 11:16am

It has been quiet in here! But obviously, as Anmarie pointed out, our nukes are still moving through the pipeline. It's all good.

My nuke had thought that he and his family would come home for a visit over the summer but then told me Sunday that his being able to come is now unlikely. It might just be his wife and kids. There's too much going on, I guess, that I can't talk about due to OPSEC. I'll be happy to see the babies, of course, but very disappointed to not see my son. Well, who knows, it might work out yet. I'll keep hoping!

Between the weather and the flu I've about had it. We have had a terrible winter with extremely cold temps and record snowfalls. Now we're warming up but getting a bunch of rain which is adding to the melting snow and causing all manner of water problems. Many gutters are still full of ice so water is running down the houses causing water in the houses. Then the snow and temps caused a pothole crisis to the point the radio traffic reports are telling where the really bad ones are. I'm done! I won't even start on the flu going around...

Hump day, Sea Sisters! Hooyah!

NNLori - yes I did ask about eye exams off base. Thank you very much - I will definitely let my sailor know. Have a great day!

Comment by Anmarie on March 12, 2019 at 4:56pm

NNLori, thanks for the information about healthcare off base.  I was curious what happens when they are home and have a medical issue.

Also, my sailor finally qualified at prototype. He was saying most of his crew was delayed so if they go to the Yeoman about their orders that the day may get pushed back that they can take leave.  He was down to just a couple of weeks of leave, but the Yeoman changed his order so he could have more time at home.  Not sure how common this is, but certainly worth checking out.  My son is going overseas though, so that may the deal.

ProudOfK - I can't believe how much snow you've received - my dad keeps sending pictures and it's just crazy!

Mammoth Mountain (which is about 5 hours from us) has received almost 55 FEET of snow this season!  They say they will be skiing through the 4th of July.  This has been a crazy weather year for sure :>/  And our local TV weatherman says he thinks we are going to be in for an exceptionally warm summer.

B'sNukeMom- thanks for all your posts - even whe the rest of us are kind of quiet. It's snowing here again in eastern Washington. Hard to believe on 12 March
