FLmom - I think you can go online to look for apartments. I didn't do any of this for my son but he is living in Marrington Village Apartments, that are in GC and one of the closer locations, I believe to NPTU. One of his roommates parents found the apartments but they all had to go sign the lease and turn in their letters of credit and pay a deposit, I think.

I don't know of furnished apartments in GC, but there are thrift stores around and other furniture places. Also, my son had told me that there is some sort of legal thing that if they have orders that would require them to break a lease, then they are able to do that. But I don't know what it is called. Sorry.

Keep in mind that this area is very use to military and short term leasing.

Don’t worry too much, ladies. Believe it or not, they will figure everything out. They usually can’t start moving until they know they have passed comp, but I think they have to be out the day of graduation. More than likely they will be moved before you get there. You can help them settle in when you get there.

Pat PS is more academically demanding than A school. They take more than one class at a time.

go across to nps officer grad, and that's the date.

I found it but I haven’t figured it out. I know the class number, then what? Thanks.

oh, I found this site that shows graduation dates based on their class. It took me a bit to figure out how to read it, but it's given me more info on dates than my son has.

Flmom- mine has said he's looking for one that's furnished and still in GC. He also said he's looking for a roommate but hasn't found one yet that he "wants". He's kind of a girl when it comes to things like that lol. I may look a little bit for him. As he calls it  I'm going to "mom" him.

Amarrah (and Chipmunk). My son graduates PS in April too, and has told me the same thing. I hope to get up there in Feb/March since he hasn't told me whether apts for rent are furnished, have short term leases etc...We don't even know how close there are to the base! Hope there is more "mom 'info out there!

Nukelukesmom - short and sweet, but still an awesome moment!

Amarrah - This is based on what my son explained to me this fall. He and his buddies (actually one of his friend's parents) located an apartment. They went and applied for the apartment, put down the deposit and everything but did not move in until the Thursday after they had passed their comps. After graduation my son picked up his new orders for Prototype. I think he was completely checked out on Thursday, but not everyone was, some were still clearing out of their BEQ's after graduation.

The other thing he told me was that they were not allowed to leave NNPTC & their BEQ and move out, until they knew that they had passed PS.  Others may share their experiences.

Hey everyone! I know I've been MIA for a WHILE now, work has had me running crazy. I've done what I could to get caught up on everything going on in the past week or so. Glad to hear all the sailors are making their way through the program, even with the bump that happen along the way.

I'm happy to say mine is doing much better, and is excited to graduate PS in April. He did say something that had me a little concerned. He said he had to have his new place before graduation. Is that right? I was hoping to be up there to help at least a little.
