B'sNukeMom- That is crazy...my son is hoping they just give them a couple of months leave/vacation time. His room mates have been hanging out doing nothing for the past 6 months waiting to start school. They work 4 hours a week in the mail room.

JayDee659- No my son did not go through Navy housing, he likes living off base, I have tried talking him into living on base but he refuses. He likes his living allowance although in SP it is very expensive for their apartments. The 1 he found is 1400 for a 1 bedroom which I think is ridiculous.

Hi all - Happy Thursday!

Yes, the wait is extreme for my son to be seen, but like NancyJo said, what are you gonna do?  I'm thankful it isn't something more serious - although if it was I'm still not sure they could get him seen any sooner.  Really makes you feel for some of these vets that have serious issues they are trying to be seen for and can't get faster help.  The system definitely needs help....

NonnaB - he has googled quite a bit on it but he hasn't mentioned anything about exercises.  I will definitely tell him to check on that.  The one good thing is that it's his left shoulder and he is right handed.

myvampress - yes specifics cannot be discussed regarding the reactors but just know that prototype can take any amount of time to get through!  There can be and usually are some sort of delays but eventually they'll get them through.  My son spent 13 months in BS and graduation was changed I think 3 times lol.  Just remember it's a lot of hurry up & wait!

Myvampress didn't you go through Navy Housing?  They don't require a deposit and they were fabulous to work with.

J's/S'smom, sorry, didn't know I should not have posted that but thanks for the information given.
JayDee659- my son is also set to graduate early October as well and was went to send his deposit on an apartment for his prototype class and got to UPS 15 minutes to late which he said ended up being a blessing because right now they are not sure where they will be going.

B'NukeMm - tell your young man to ice his shoulder; most A-C separations do not require surgery. He should look online for A-C tear rehab exercises so that he doesn't lose mobility. Keep us posted on his progress please.

Myvampress I'm not sure what is and isn't closed for repairs, but I do know that my daughter's class is set to graduate power school in early October and while most of their class is going to BS some of them are staying in GC.

Comment by myvampress on September 8, 2016 at 10:24am
Has anyone heard that they have closed down Prototype in SP due to reactor problems? Where will they send the nukes coming out of Power School to if GC is filled up?
Comment by NancyJo (NNPTC) on September 8, 2016 at 9:33am

B'sNuke, your poor boy! I agree, that wait for an appt. is out of line but what are you going to do? I hope the pain isn't too bad. Immobilizing is tough. We use our limbs more than we realize. I hope he does OK. Meanwhile, great news on your mom. Thank the Lord! You must have taken extra good care of her.  ;)

COTwin, isn't it funny how we accumulate stuff without even trying? Good luck emptying out the garage. This week the leaves are beginning to fall which means snow isn't too far off.
