Yay Pooh'sMom!  Glad he made it home - enjoy!

Comment by Pooh'sMom on September 2, 2016 at 5:23pm

He's home!  The flight right after his was cancelled.  He got out of Charleston to Charlotte, so there was less rain.  His flight was delayed, but he's HOME!

JayDee,
I did pass along your message.
He said you are welcome.  He has now performed 7 ceremonies.

My son left GC yesterday heading for Richmond, Va. He said he left at 2:30 pm and hit rain in SC and some more in NC but other than that the weather was fine. He said his roommates were flying out today heading to Florida and another to Pennsylvania and I am not sure where the other one was headed. Hopefully they all make it safely. I live in Norfolk, Va and it is fine here but the sky looks like it is ready to rain. Everyone stay safe.

hey Bkat,    just talked to my daughter in Monck Corner which is very near GC....said just rain......so far....we are in the middle of the state and we have had rain all morning and downtown had up to 6 inches....we have had 3.....her schools were cancelled for today and ours had early release.  Our son and dil and grand daughter are here from Atlanta preparing for a camping trip to the Asheville area in NC...they should be OK up there.  We certainly do need the rain...there should be no danger of tornadoes since we are west of the eye.  Enjoy this long weekend.

My goofy sailors drove from Charleston to Jacksonville last night!  I was on pins and needles waiting for the "we're here" call.  She said the trip was stormy but no big deal and they're safely with his parents for the weekend.  I think they're reckless until I remember my husband and I flying into Cancun right ahead of tropical storm Claudette.

Hope all you mom's in the storm path are damage free. My husband is currently working storms elsewhere but has had a lot of insurance companies checking to see if he'd head to Florida.  He may end up there, we'll see.

Pooh's Mom - yea! on homecomings!  Give that boy a big hug and thank him for me.  I appreciate all he did for my girl.

Pooh'sMom - glad you all are safe - and fingers crossed your sailor makes it out of Charlotte without too much of a delay!  Enjoy your visit :-D

Michimom - hopefully there's another "Tony" out there so the sign can be used.  Nice of you to offer it up.  We used our last name on our sons welcome home banner so definitely can't be passed on lol!

Is your son out of the navy now?  If so what is he doing now if you don't mind my asking?

We are in Florida, and on the south side of the storm in the Tampa Bay area.  High winds and rains, and a couple of tornados spotted.  Everyone I know is safe.

My Sailor is flying in today from Charleston.  He's in Charlotte right now, and his flight has been delayed, but he's still on the way!  YIPPEE!

Woohoo - finally it's Friday!

CoTwin - I would think maybe the subs would just submerge.  Seems like the best thing for them to do but the bigger boats I don't know.  I know last year a big storm hit in VA and my son was on the Truman at the time and they had been on an underway and they pulled in - picked up some supplies and went right back out to get away from the docks.  They just sorted of floated around and waited it out.

I did see on the news this morning that areas of Florida got hit hard.  I know we have some mom's from FL on here - I hope everyone is ok.  and it looks like SC is going to get hit pretty hard too - I saw that bkat3 said they got out early yesterday and I heard that classes were cancelled for today.  Better safe than sorry.  My son is in VA and he texted a picture yesterday of nice blue skies but they're supposed to get lots of rain tomorrow.

BE SAFE EVERYONE

Amazing about the magnets. A few years ago there was a set of small very strong magnets sold for a toy. I still have some of my son's set. They banned them because too many kids swallowing them and they would really mess up their insides.

Wonder what they do to batten down hatches for a hurricane in Pearl Harbor. I asked my son in a text but did not get an answer. Do they go out to sea and submerge?
