Thanks KimberlyDi I am but also struggling to figure out how to do this from a distance. He's a very nice young man and makes my daughter happy. That's the important part.

Good morning ladies.  My daughter has announced her engagement to another Nuke and they will be getting married in SC.  Has anyone had any experience with wedding planning near the base or have any guidance regarding vendors, etc?  She wants something simple.  I've been down there a few times but if someone knew of some trusted vendors that would be great.

Hi all - Happy Thursday!

Lilo54 - it could be any # of things - the important thing is for you all to be flexible, which is sounds like you are.  Go, get extra hugs and enjoy your visit!  I'm sure he'll enjoy whatever time you can spend together ;-)

Prototype is stressful. My son had similar experiences. Each Nuke goes through at their own pace. My son had to fight for it every step of the way. Keep encouraging them. My son stayed in communication with his instructors and let them know how much he wanted to finish. The Navy has invested a lot in them already and if they know the Sailor is dedicated they will work with them. I can't begin to tell you how much our son grew during prototype. So proud to be a Nuke Navy Mom. Stay positive! It's good that you are going to visit. Safe travels!

Question - my sailor is in Prototype. in GC  We were planning to go to GC to visit him this weekend.  He was suppose to have a 4 day off but called us tonight to say that his 4 day was cancelled and he has to work an 8 hour shift this weekend instead.. He was very upset and we are going to visit anyway even if it is just to have dinner each night.  He did not elaborate as to the reasons.  Do you think it might be academic or is this something that happens due to scheduling issue or even disciplinary issues ?  I'm sure we will get the full story when we see him on Friday night!  Now I just want to give him extra hugs because I hate it when he is upset!!!!

We visited the Banyan Tree in Lahaina, saw a rainbow (one of many) in Haleakala Natl Park and fortunately the only sharks we saw were at the Maui Ocean Center!

Here's a few pictures.  We stayed in Lahaina and our condo was right on the beach!  We had amazing sunsets every night. Middle picture is college son sitting on the lanai feeding a little birdie.  We picked the fresh mangos at a restaurant we went to - they were delicious!

And of course we did a luau and went to the Wailuku blow hole.  The last one is me, college son & his gf in front of the condo.
