I don't post much on this site but I read everything and can't thank you all enough. You've been a life line without even knowing it. My son struggled all the way through power school and prototype and finally made it. He wanted this so much and fought every step of the way. He has always been very smart but never had much confidence. The navy and the nuke program made him a confident sailor and I couldn't be more excited for him. The phone calls are so precious and while some of them broke my heart I kept telling him to hang tough and work hard. I never doubted him for one minute. Hearing about your conversations with your sailors and knowing you were feeling just like me gave me great comfort. I am looking forward to watching him continue to grow as he goes to his ship. He is headed to Norfolk. I guess I should join the group for his ship. I can't wait to go visit him there. I am such a proud Navy mom!!!
Bless you all and thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Yes emails are like gold. I taped all the ones I got to my office wall to read over and over again.

Yay Kimberly!  Glad you heard from your son ;-)  Enjoy your weekend!

I got an email today from my son who is deployed!  Just to read words coming from him to me helps me so much to know that he's ok and dealing well with being on a submarine.  Who would have thought that an email would become so precious.  :)

Hi all - Happy Thursday!  Almost made it through another week ;-)

JLVRDH - look at the pages to the right under the member profiles - 9 of them.  I've posted lots of info there that will give you some insight into the Nuke program.  And of course, feel free to ask any questions you may have!

Comment by SoCal_Sailor_Dad on May 11, 2016 at 9:23pm

JLVRDH, My sailor is now in the fleet, but General information about NNPTC can be found here:
http://www.navsea.navy.mil/Home/NNPTC.aspx

More specific information about 'A' school can be found in this document:
http://www.navsea.navy.mil/Portals/103/Documents/NNPTC/students_enl...

You can also join the groups on Facebook and there's a chance you'll find other families in your sailor's class. 'A' school class sizes are small though.
