Hi all - Happy Tuesday!

Having one of those days....I upgraded my iPhone yesterday.  Mine was almost 4 years old which in & of itself wasn't a problem but the battery was shot....now grrrrrrrr trying to get everything set up/transferred over.  Why can't it be easy?!

Comment by NancyJo (NNPTC) on May 10, 2016 at 2:43pm

JayDee, what a wonderful Mother's Day for you! Two months is a long time. And yes, just hearing those voices is the best gift.

Donna, I'm so glad you got a call! My son is married so when he was deployed, his wife and kids got all the calls. I knew that would happen, and I assured him before he left that I expected him to talk to his wife and kids and not me, but I still long for his voice. <sigh> When he's in port, though, it's another story.

Donna - glad your son got to call you.  It almost doesn't matter when they call as long as they do.  Happy Mother's Day!

Mine was spent in San Antonio.  My husband has been there on business and we've not seen each other in 2 months.

Funny thing, they had graduation at Lackland on Friday so the Riverwalk was crawling with newly minted airmen.  I kept seeing a young lady everywhere we went and she looked familiar but couldn't place her so I dismissed it.  My sailor called me Sunday and mentioned that her high school ROTC buddy had just graduated from Lackland and was down on the Riverwalk all day.  I wish now I'd looked at her name tag, maybe it would have hit home.  Such a small world.

It was great to see my hubby, both my girls called me and my niece came and had brunch with us.  Couldn't ask for much more.

Happy Belated Mother's Day to everyone!  I just got my first phone call from my son on the Truman.  It was the best thing every just hearing his voice.  Can you tell I'm a first deployment mom.  LOL   I just had to share my good news.

Hi all - Happy Monday and yes, happy belated Mother's Day!  I hope everyone had a nice weekend. I so enjoyed having both my boys home ;-)

Happy belated birthday to your twins CoTwin!

One more week and then my PS heads back to VA - I wish I could just stop time....we still have so many things we want to do.  Darn work is getting in the way lol!

Comment by PacNWmom on May 9, 2016 at 1:59pm

NancyJo and CoTwin, I have 3 roommates: My oldest child, who moved home less than 24 hours before my Nuke left for BC; A young family friend who needed a place to stay when her last place became unstable; and a friend of a friend, who exchanges rent for doing our housekeeping (and also shares my first name, lol!). I have a number of health issues and need to spend a lot of time in bed. Doing housework in beyond my capabilities, so this arrangement has worked out wonderfully. I highly recommend it if you can make it work. My oldest child and I love living together. We have really enjoyed getting to know each other as adults and have become very close friends. In my case, it takes a village to support a Mama!

ITgal, love the article and videos. I have so much respect for submariners. The article makes me proud of our loved ones under the surface.

COTwin, a roommate is a big deal! Good luck! I live with my adult daughter to share expenses. I think it's just the way of the world. She does her thing, I do mine, and mostly stay out of each other's way. I take it the roses were from one of your sailors? How nice is that!

I Had a pleasant day. Early a friend of my son's came with a vase of gorgeous huge red roses!! Went to church then brunch with my new room mate. (got one to help make ends meet.) We walked in the park by my home around the lake and watched Blue Herons. Then hung out at home.

Here's an article on sub life.  All I can say is I got a better feel for life on a sub from this article that includes a few short videos than I've gotten from my son.  He's not a big talker:)  http://www.cnn.com/2016/05/06/politics/life-on-uss-missouri-nuclear...[1045047558903121]&action_type_map=[%22og.shares%22]&action_ref_map=[]
