Thanks SoCal_Sailor_Dad - nothing like having it right up to the end!!!   We were on the train heading to Great Lakes when we got the I'm a Sailor call.  We didn't go to A school grad so it didn't matter.  But, we plan to drive to graduation and will leave on Thursday.  I guess we just have to patiently wait again!

Lilo54- Power school comp is always on the Tuesday before graduation. I believe they get the results that same evening.

Hi all - Happy Friday!  I've got my red on today ;-)

Yes, thanks Mark for the clarification!

PacNWmom - sorry about your basement, but glad it's not worse.  My dad lives in Prosser, WA & they've got a river flood warning....we got a minor sprinkling of rain here in SoCal last night.

Lilo54 - if graduation is next Friday his PS comp should be on Tuesday (or is it Wednesday?  someone remind me please!).  You should hear from him late that afternoon....

Thanks Mark, that really does make sense now.  Glad to be learning more each day!   I have read some of your other posts and you are very helpful.  again, thanks.

brojo      No, I live near Columbia in the middle of the state.  My daughter is just outside of N. Charleston.  We will not be down today as our Sailor graduated from A school Nov. 13.  But our Sailors should be in Power School together.  Our son is an ET.  I do not know how they divide the classes, but I think they do mix them all up initially and then they stay together.  It will be a very large group.  Right now our son is on T track which means he is standing duty and such until they class up.  he will have the week after Christmas off.  Where is your home?

Question about Power School.   My son is scheduled to graduate from Power School next friday, Dec 18.  He does not communicate with me very often (last talked to him on Thanksgiving).  I don't bother him because I know he is concentrating on his studies and is probably under a lot of stress.  I know they are taking finals this week.  Is there a comp test and when will I know if he has passed all the tests and requirements.  I know he will call me about that but I would like to know when I should expect to hear!!!!  Thanks.

KAM are you in GC for A school graduation? If so , maybe we can meet tomorrow?
Comment by Mark on December 10, 2015 at 11:06pm
KAM, when you see Navy references to "sea tours", they are not referring to continual stretches at sea. A "sea tour" is an assignment to an operating ship. When a sailor is on a ship that is in port, they are still doing a "sea tour". A sailor also collects sea pay any time they are on a sea tour, regardless of whether the ship is in port or actually at sea.

Thanks for the great ideas folks! I knew I could count on y'all!

B'sNuke, our area has seen some big flooding, but our house has been fine, just a minor river running through our basement. I feel pretty lucky.

I do love this new gift giving idea. It cuts down SO much on the shopping and spending. We also decided to eliminate stockings and Christmas eve PJs this year. It's time to admit the kids are grown up, and none of us need a bunch more stuff. But impulse buying is hard to resist, especially when there are so many adorable, cool and awesome things out there! First world problems, right?
