hello all!!!

tom--thank you for your comment!  I never thought of all the hard work, deployments, and time away from family my son has and will be doing as my son making memories.  to me it is a comfort thinking of it that way.  God bless you!

Dittersmom - San Diego has Navy Lodge at the 32nd Street Base in San Diego and at North Island in Coronado. The ones at North Island are on the beach in a beautiful resort city.

Are there villas or something like it in san diego. Our nuke has decided to vacation with us and we thought we might be able to stay there instead of a hotel. Any thoughts.

Tom - thank you for sharing your story with us! I truly enjoyed reading it. Thanks again!

We live about ten minutes away from the old naval training center in Orlando. My nuke was fascinated with the ship they used for battlestations, the USS Bluejacket. You use to be able to see it when you go down Bennet Rd. He was devastated when the ship came down. The grounds are now Baldwin Park. All that's left from the old base is the VA Clinic.

Tom's comment reminded me of the last chapters of "Last Stand of the Tin Can Sailors". They all got together to remember and enter the time machine as well.

Yes I will ship some of my items. GF baking has come a long way, There was another student in class before me that developed GF sour dough!

Tom my Dad, WWII S. Pacific fleet. Aboard USS Wilson. They had ship reunions that he attended and he loved seeing his old ship mates. This year he went on an Honor flight to Washington DC.

One-more-thing Co-twin- The girls, in my family, do a "ladies night" gathering once a month. Tonight is the night and we are doing a cake decorating class. My Mom is teaching so it should be fun. I'll post a picture of my "creation".

love to all

CO-twin- Looks like a good place to start. My bf is gluten intolerant. She is always excited when a new gf product comes out. She lives in the foot-hills of PA so she doesn't have a lot of choices. It seems that these products are on the rise though. Good for you for making products that suit the needs of many. Will you be shipping your yummies? or have you not gotten that far?

Tom- How many years of service do you have under your belt? The reunion sounds like fun. Did you spend the evening re-hashing crazy sub moments?

Dittersmom- Hope you enjoy your camping trip. My husband and I have tossed around the idea of buying an RV. He wants to do something crazy like travel the US, after retirement. He watched a show, on the travel channel, that showcased three families that sold everything, bought an RV and drove around the country. Thanks travel channel!
