For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

He has called the number he was given, and emailed the email address but hasn't gotten a response from either. He guesses his boat is underway. Is there somebody else he can contact or does he have to just drive to Groton (~15 hours) and hope they know he's coming and have a room for him etc?

He was asking what sort of medical "issues" there were in our extended family. Interesting topic and good for him to know. Unfortunately I was heading out to workout, so hopefully we can get back to the topic at another time.

Comment by Cerise on April 22, 2015 at 10:25pm: On the topic of the "procedure" that so many of you have had. My husband and I had ours in the fall. I was very nervous about getting the prep drink ( Movi Prep) down, was afraid it would come right up. But by having it very cold and drinking with a straw I managed to get it down. The rest was a breeze. We should be good for 10 years now, unless, - knock on wood - something changes.

Comment by Mark on April 22, 2015 at 9:49pm: I was "scoped" myself about a year ago (3 years late), and it was nice to have the peace of mind afterward, since I have a family history as well. The fasting part wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it might be - it's remarkable how satisfying chicken broth can be in some circumstances :). The procedure itself was a nice little half hour nap, shortly followed by a nice gooey triple cheeseburger, yum! I'll get another in a year or two, and will not mind it in the slightest.

Our last duty station was Mayport, very close to were you are right now. Finding myself in a whole different place right now as a navy mom. My son will be stationed in Norfolk. He's a new Nuke MM.
The best to you and your family, your baby is gorgeous! Navy wife's are awesome!

Days go by way too fast! He has to report to his new command on Mother's Day. Life goes on. So blessed that I can come here and everyone understands.

I finally threatened that I was going to put my foot up his rear if he didn't go in for the test lol! I don't have very big feet, but I guess I scared him enough that he finally decided to get it done.....hehehe.

Thank you joyfulmom! Sometimes I get a little carried away with the attachments, but then I figure what the heck, right?! I hope you are able to hear from your son soon. That's unfortunate that parents aren't allowed on their FB page :(
