JessNukeMom - yes they do re-take their boards.  I believe they have to wait 5 days and then it has to be done within a couple of weeks.  They will do a lot of studying during that time and their instructors will work (and work) with them.  The Navy wants them to pass too!  Tell your sailor not to stress....he knows the info - he just needs to relax and rely on his training.  He's got this!  Best of luck to him ;-)

Anyone know what happens if a Sailor fails his boards at the end of prototype? Can they re-take it? Haven't gotten much info and I'm on pins and needles!

Comment by NancyJo (NNPTC) on April 13, 2015 at 12:11pm

Power School is awesome too. I don't think anything compares to PIR but PS is definitely worth the trip. My sailor was actually rather emotional at PS. So much work and worry, and it's a huge achievement. Yup, if possible, PS is a go-to event.

Comment by CountryGirl on April 13, 2015 at 12:09pm

I should clarify... it is like power school when they don't pass on time.  Those that have to re-board etc. miss out on power school graduation sometimes and it is the same with prototype.

Well my son made it to GC safe and sound! We took my MIL with us to PIR and would like to take my mother to a graduation as well. I've read that A School graduation is pretty low key. What is Power School graduation like?

Comment by CountryGirl on April 13, 2015 at 11:54am

There was a graduation for class 1404 in GC.  It was March 27th.  If your sailor wasn't fully signed off etc. by that date then it is like power school.... they don't have a special graduation for them.  They just pass & then move on to the next assignment. Kinda of a bummer since they work hard for a couple of years. :(  But bright side is they are DONE!!  Onto the next adventure! :)

Hi all - Happy Monday! Weekend was way to short....

BoyWonderMom - wow - that's awesome that he surprised you early!!!  Enjoy your visit with him - of course you know the drill, get lots & lots of hugs ;-)

Co-Twin - counting down the days until you get to hug TwinA!  How much time will you get with him?

It's seems like GC doesn't do the proto grad ceremony all the time.  I remember a couple of years ago they weren't having them, then recently they were having a ceremony I think on the Yorktown at Patriot's Point.  Sorry to hear they aren't having them again....I know that BS holds them (we went in January) but I agree with your comment Dinky - it's definitely more for the parents/families!  My son didn't really care all that much and we turned around and left NY the next day and all came back to CA together.

Comment by bclmomct on April 12, 2015 at 3:36pm

Anyone's sailor in 1305 in GC?  I've heard that the graduation was switched from 5/22 to 5/29.  Anyone else?

Comment by CO-TwinSalorsMom on April 12, 2015 at 9:02am
Why no ceremony? I was kind of wondering because my son said the movers are coming Friday to pack up his stuff and car. He flies here Saturday:) !!!
