Heartbreaking news about the SEAL.  Definitely some prayers needed for them all.  So sad.

MichianaMom, was your sailor grad n go?  If so, he might very well be "on crew", and be graduating earlier?  My two were Grad Hold class 1405  and grad n go class 1406.  That is how they ended up being able to stay together.  She classed up immediately at the end of January, and her brother and their roomie started a week ago, all with "off crew."  I can try to ask more info from my girl.  She is generally more communicative than her brother.  Go figure!

My son is in BS. He said he was 1405, but now I'm not sure, as he has been "on crew" (I guess?) since the end of January...I am so confused. He has talked about graduation in July, then says he really has no idea. I'm just looking forward to seeing him again, whenever it is.

Prayers needed. The Navy family lost a SEAL today in Perris, CA during a training exercise where the parachute malfunctioned. God Bless his family, friends, and Navy peers. Our Navy nation lost a Sailor today.

MichianaMom is your son in BS.  Because mine is 1405 in GC. I am thinking he will graduate prototype in May.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words of encouragement, prayers and sage advice. I really appreciated all of the input.  We knew proto would be hardest for my daughter, because she is so reserved.  I have passed on your good wishes and wise words to her.  It is nice to know she is not the only one who has felt this way, and yet your sailors have managed to make it through.  Time will tell, I guess.  BunkerQB,  I will be sure to pass on the 4 P's to my ET, as well.  :-)

Did any of your sailors take college courses while on grad hold in GC?  If so, would appreciate hearing your thoughts.

Lots of interesting comments lately, thanks everyone for taking the time to post.

dinkys mom - wow he got san diego I'm sure you are on cloud nine.

Prototype can be a challenge for those that are more introverts which many nukes tend to be. My son is in the middle and stayed just ahead of the curve throughout all three schools. I asked my husband which was the hardest part, and he said its different for everyone. Some of the smartest the studious types find prototype the hardest because they tend to not have the social skills. So if you find your sailor struggling in prototype as boywonders son called himself the dumbest sailor there. He was actually probably one of the more intellectual ones there. Each school stresses and pushes them, but its all to teach them the necessary skills they will need later down the road. If they are going to be operators this testing will be done every year even in the private sector. It never ends but the rewards as far as work ethic and career achievement is like no other. Hang in there including my own on getting thru the pipeline. May the force be with us all. Love the quote BunkerQB going to pass it along to my sailor. He takes his 100 percent test next Tuesday and has about 30 sign offs left which he said all need supervisor signatures which are harder to pin down. He will need to practice the 4 Ps

PERSISTENT, POLITE, PROFESSIONAL & PATIENT.

This was a suggestion from my former nuke officer a while back. If you are too much of a "squeaky wheel" it might be counter productive.

Hi all - Happy Wednesday!

So exciting to hear about everyone passing comps - BZ to all of them!

8isenuff - tell your daughter to hang in there and keep plugging away.  Some days will be better than others but she'll find a rhythm.....don't let her get down on herself.  Hugs to her and you too!

MichianaMom - it will be interesting to see what happens with your son - keep us posted.

Stacey3 - Lucky that you will have your daughter closer to home! Enjoy ;-)
