Doesn't matter how accomplished your son/daughter is. Your heart string will be tugging forever. Important to keep good, glowing image in head; otherwise, so easy for moms to let things get clogged up by negatives, worries. I am no exception.

Hi all - Happy Friday!

1proudmama - I just saw your message & I texted your # to sailor & your offer.  His response was "Cool Beans".  He also texted back that now their plan is to leave at 2am Saturday so they can be there before noon!  Yikes.....He had told hubby earlier this morning that they were leaving Saturday but hubby thought it was Saturday afternoon....(hubby forgets that sailor talks in military time lol!).

Yes, the time did go by way too fast....and yes it was bittersweet.  I am soooo happy for him and what he is doing, like you said Bunker he is going somewhere and he definitely has a purpose in life.  But it still tugs at my heartstrings a bit!  Hubby & I will have to start saving for a trip to VA - I hear it's beautiful in the fall ;-)

Lilo54 - A school graduation is nice - smaller & less formal.  They let you take plenty of pictures and yes your names do have to be on a list to get on the base.  They check ID's (although when we went they only asked my hubby for his as he was the driver.....).  Graduations are on Friday's so you may want to double check that date.

Zach&Jakesmom - not sure why you can't get anyone to answer the phone.  You may have to have your sailor go there in person.

College son has his 1st track meet tomorrow (well, first for his JR year). He's feeling good so hope it's a good season!

Hubby & I are going to the Laker game tonight.  Friend has tickets in a suite!  WooHoo - can't wait ;-)

Hope everyone has a good weekend.  Please pray that my sailor & mommamacs son make it to VA safely!

I've tried calling Foster Creek villas several times just to check on availability and my sailor had tried to call for reservations and no one ever answers the phone. Has anyone ever stayed there/dealt with them before? I'm starting to getting worried. We are supposed to visit March 4-12.

B'sNuke, you're killing me. Great photos. Hang in there, Mom!

I have a question about A school graduation.  Is it a formal ceremony like boot camp (on a smaller scale)?  Do we need tickets or to be on an access list?  Is there a listing of graduation dates?  Our sailor just started classes in GC and is going to be a MM.  We would like to be there for his graduation.  He said his grad date was 5/20 which is a Wednesday?

great posts...I should add to a recent post I made that every one of those guys I mentioned wanted out of the Navy would tell you now it was most likely the most interesting thing they ever did - certainly as a young man.

Comment by BunkerQB on February 19, 2015 at 10:23pm

No. No. No. Not sad. Happy. Beautiful photos. Nothing better than a young man with a purpose in life. He is going somewhere.
