Oh and of course Tom & Mark & William are invited too! (After all we need someone to pour our drinks for us LOL!)

OK - everyone head to my house for dinner & a sleepover!  The weather is beautiful - we can even sit out by the pool.  The more the merrier ;-)  And definitely Co-twin can make the dessert!!

Tom- Well said! I think that's the exact situation that he wants to be in. He grew up with me absolutely loving my job as a firefighter. That said, he also knows that there were times that my Lieutenant and I didn't see eye to eye. Or that I would have a "bad call". I tried to impress to my two older kids that those, "moments", were all just small pieces of the big puzzle. Thanks Tom!

Think we can be there in time for dinner?

Comment by britefuture on February 17, 2015 at 5:03pm

Mark- Thanks for your input. That's very interesting about the ships and ports and the tools.

My son called yesterday to say the he is scheduled for his oral boards on the 25th, but, as we all know by now, that could change. That was jut a preliminary date. And he's testing with a different section. Don't remember that section number. He's excited because, whatever section he is testing with, doesn't have, "The Dragon Lady". Don't know who that is but apparently she's a tough cookie on our Sailors.

I'm not sure which of our seasoned N4M members put this out there but I wanted to send a sincere "Thanks" to whomever it was. My Son sent the same sentiment. Apparently a group of Sailors have been talking about whether or not they are going to take the Star Re-enlistment and my son has chosen not to. His buddies gave him a bunch of lip but he recalled what I had shared with him a few months back. The, "words-of-wisdom" shared here. He said to me, "While I love the Navy and can't imagine ever leaving, I haven't been in the fleet yet and I don't want to feel trapped if I wind up hating it or if it's just not a good fit for me". For him, it's never been about the money/bonuses. It's always just been about "The Navy" and his responsibility to serve.

Seasoned members: Suppose he doesn't like being on a sub or the job that he has chosen. What, if anything, can Sailors do in that situation?

NancyJo-I second that proposal. Road-trip for a sleepover.

Comment by NancyJo (NNPTC) on February 17, 2015 at 2:38pm

Congrats, gretamae!! Safe travels and don't forget to hug your sailor for the rest of us! Hope the roads are OK.

PattiP, schools are out all over the place but here in NE. A coworker has a daughter in Indiana out for the 2nd day, and do we need to talk about the east coast and their ridiculous weather? Enjoy those hours at home. Snow days are sure a treat for teachers.

I propose B'sNuke hosts a N4M sleepover for all us in who live in the cold. COTwin could make dessert. Just kidding but CA sounds pretty good. :^D Glad your visit w/ your sailor is going well.

I don't k ow about ya all but I'm headed to B'sNuke's house for dinner tonight!!!

I am waiting to hear from my son. He had comps today. I am headed to SC Thursday for graduation!! Of course it's going to be cold there. I am so sick of this snow and cold weather!!! I wasn't made for it.

First time my sailor son drove across the country from CA to NC, he made out his route and checked in with us regularly at least once a day - following suggestions from other nukes. With my other son (more chatty type), he called 3-4 times asking mommy to make hotel reservations, check places to eat, weather conditions. Love my helicopter opportunities.

Hi all - Happy Tuesday!

bclmomct - my hubby is worried about them driving from NY to VA.  Sailor isn't too worried about it and luckily it is only about an 8 hour drive.  He arrives back in NY midnight on Thursday and doesn't report to VA until next Thursday, so he has allowed himself plenty of time.  They plan on driving Friday - weather permitting.  I'm sure it will all be fine.  I'm on the FB page for the Norfolk base and they put out an alert that the base is closed to all non-essential personnel today due to inclement weather.  They got some snow....of course sailor just laughs 'cuz he's had his share of snow in NY.  I got to tell you he's soaking up the sunshine while at home & he's sure gonna miss it!

Co-Twin - I googled that Monkey tool - that's pretty cool.  I might order a couple for Christmas presents (or maybe I'll do it for birthdays since they are sooner!).

Gonna grill steak & lobster tonight for sailor.  2 more dinners & then he'll be gone.....ugh - where did the time go?!

Comment by CO-TwinSalorsMom on February 16, 2015 at 10:17pm

I found a neat tool I got the twins for Christmas that can go through security fits in a wallet. They loved it. Called the Monkey. Google it. it has lots of fun functions and is the size of a credit card.
