For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Comment by CarolR,KRmom on January 28, 2015 at 1:13pm: NancyJo congrats on the new baby news. I have been there with the rack situation, we learned to find hiding places to sleep. My husband slept sometimes on a 6" 90* water pipe. He can sleep anywhere. Thank you for the update.

Comment by NancyJo (NNPTC) on January 28, 2015 at 1:02pm: Thanks for the grandbaby well wishes! We are pretty sure, barring anything really horrible happening, that the ship will be back in the spring. Not even month is certain. But September should be safe.

My sailor is doing great. Hard to be away from the family but they are so busy that they don't have a chance to sit around and mope. He Facebooked this week and got some razzing from fellow nukes who asked how he was even getting the time to be on FB. Turns out his shift was such that he got off at an hour when fewer were asking to use the computers but he did say he was giving up rack time for it. Also said he has the worst rack on the ship right under a busy ladder. Poor thing. But again, he says he's usually so tired it doesn't matter.

See what you all have to look forward to? Vicariously living the navy life through your sailor. It's actually kinda exciting but scary at the same time.

Comment by B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet) on January 28, 2015 at 1:01pm: No, my son made MM2 by re-enlisting. They held a nice re-enlist ceremony after Proto graduation. First they "Honorably Discharge" them and then they re-enlist. 2 more years added on to his contract. It is also possible to make 2nd class by taking the E5 exam.

Comment by MichianaMom on January 28, 2015 at 12:52pm: B'sMom - Congrats to you and your son for becoming an MM2! Maybe you mentioned that earlier and I missed it. I take it he made it by passing the E5 exam? I understand that is possible to do while in Prototype, but not easy (?).

And Sunday will not be an easy day in our house either. At least your husband and son can commiserate together!
