Hi all - Happy Tuesday!  It's a wonderful day LOL.  I'm so excited to see my sailor at graduation on the 23rd ;-)

PattiP - glad you had a nice time in Arizona - and got to meet some Navy mom's!  Yep, it would be a nice place to retire.

NancyJo - thanks! Yes I didn't realize it but I think I had been holding my breath for the last 2 years.  I do feel like a load has been lifted...now it's on to the next phase of Navy life.

Like you said Chris - hopefully I will worry less and yes, still continue to pray every day!

Good luck to everyone else's sailor's who still have oral boards and also those taking comps for A school & Power School!

Thank you for all your stories, it's nice to hear that my son's story is so similar to many others. Tried college then choose NAVY then Nuke program choose him.

Today is his A school final. Good luck to all!

Hey PattiP, glad to see you! It has been a while. Glad your sailor is enjoying his gig.

B'sNuke congrats! Even though we have every confidence in our sailors, getting that news is a load off, isn't it? Bravo zulu to him and all our nukes moving through the pipeline. We're so proud of you all!!

Big picture for going nuke, the rewards far outweigh the risk.  My son has been active duty for nine years.  I worry less than I used to; I pray every day.

First and foremost my condolences to the family of the recruit who didn't see a way out.  Heart breaking.

Secondly, you guys rock and I thank you.  Can't wait to share this info with my son.  And I literally busted out laughing at the visual of the highly intelligent kid sitting in front of the tv and simultaneously playing his Xbox!!!  Yep!!

Thanks again to everyone who commented and helped this mom feel a bit better about things and gave ammo to help my son feel less apprehensive as well.

B'sNukeMom...WONDERFUL NEWS!  Congrats to your Nuke.

So sorry to hear about the sad news out of GC.  Prayers for the family for sure.

No time to write more right now...but hopefully I will drop in more in the future.  Hope you all had a nice time with your Sailor if they got to come home for the holidays.

B'sNukeMom- Fantastic, BZ. I can almost feel that deep breath that you let out while doing the happy dance. Very excited for you and your Sailor.
Tom- you are a pillar of Navy wisdom, I was hoping that you would chime in
Diane- the ony way that my son was different than the already described Nukes is that he has always known that he would go Navy. Never wavered, ever. Long line of Navy in his dads side. He did change his job choice to Nuke once the recruiter tested him though. His Dad worked at a Nuclear power plant here in Maryland so once he realized that e would qualify, it was a done deal. My son is almost finished Prototype, which is the end of the training pipeline. He has had ups and downs along the way but still says that he doesn't regret going Nuke because they (the Navy) made him realize that all of this hard work will pay off. Sooner rather than later. If your son likes/needs to be challenged, then this is the spot for him. My son never imagined that he was as smart as he is. He didn't realize his own potential. Even though we constantly encouraged and supported him. Good luck to your son and to you, Mom. As you can see, you have lots of support here so if you have questions or your son has questions, most can be answered here.
Thanks for the birthday wishes. My youngest was up at 2:30 a.m. having a terrible coughing fit. He is now on Tamiflu and three neb treatments a day. I had to wait 2 hours for his prescription refill. My hubby is on 24 hour shifts and is on shift today so no dinner was made when we got home at 7:30p.m. My Sister was taken to the hospital. She has the Flu. My dad keeps trying to talk to me about some stupid show on t.v.. I haven't eaten since lunch and you know what?????? I don't care, not hungry. Lol I wanted to check in and see how the oral boards went. Now I'm going to bed.
Prayers to all.

Thanks everyone! We just got off the phone with him and he sounds so relieved! He says the best part now is they go on staff hours (8 hours vs 12 hours). LOL Now I just need to get flights booked to NY!
