While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Comment by Sammylee on February 2, 2013 at 2:19pm: My son is currently in boot camp and then heading to NNPTC. He was in DEP for a year and was very excited about getting his Nuke contract. However, since bootcamp he sounds somewhat discouraged about his choice. It seems he received some very negative info. (worst job ever, live in the bowels of the ship, never see any ports). Could any of you that have deployed Nukes or you are a Nuke provide some positve feedback that I may pass along to him?

Comment by William in Nashua on February 2, 2013 at 1:39pm: The other thing beans7469: it is a Navy base not a monastery. It is important they stay away from the school on weekends and spend time off the base. You could hardly pick a better city than Charleston for a lot of fun and nightlife.

"What do you call a sailor who graduates last in the class from NNPTC? .......a Nuke!" Class rank matters only to a certain point ... just staying the course is important, too.

Comment by Connie foaling-lady (Groton) on January 31, 2013 at 10:55am: Hi beans7469 ...from what my son told me, power school was harder than A school and much harder than prototype (which he really enjoyed). Power school was pretty draining in every sense. No time to decompress. All I can say is, keep sending care packages (vitamins, snack bars, etc) and write, write, write those letters of encouragement. Good luck to your son.

Comment by beans7469 on January 31, 2013 at 9:31am: my son started power school a few weeks ago. he is very discouraged and thinking about getting out. of course, i would like him to stick it out. but, i don't want his health to be affected, mentally or physically. he has been sick more on than off since bootcamp this past summer. and, it's not the school work being hard, he has one of the highest gpa's in his class. i'm praying he chooses the correct path for his future...
