Thanks Kat for the info, after the last trip I took with Hubby reading the newpaper instead of a map, I got a GPS, tried it out on a short trip to test it.  I know I will love it on this 1300 mi trip,

for those of you getting ready to start power school in June.  they do start on a Thursday and Friday with orientation of sorts, then actual classes start on the following Monday.  My son just told me tonight that the first thursday and Friday are considered week one, so the actually classroom part is only 23 weeks.  He's happy about that.

We found our way around Charleson, and that whole area very easily because of the GPS on my daughter's cell phone.  I tell you, it was really nice having that voice telling us "turn left in 500 feet, your destination is then on the right".   I highly recommend a gps or the app. on the cell phone.  saved us a ton of time from getting lost.

Lisa, is your sailor starting power school June 23 also?  I know our guys graduated A school the same day.  I am so blessed with the pictures you took.

So Penny, Yes I bet they are in the same class, and we could possibly meet at the Power school grad.  We did not go to A school grad because he left there the same day, but expect to be at this next one.

Penny... My sailor graduated MM A school April 22nd and had told us some time ago that power school started June 28, but just recently said the start day now is June 23 and grad early Dec so he would be home for XMas.  I am looking forward to spending some time mid June with him before he starts school again.   I guess we had not thought about how hot it could be there now, but I am believing for a great time in pleasant weather.

MN Mom of MM~ So glad you will be able to visit your son....When we went for A school graduation we realized the the roads are  rather confusing and it took us days to get our bearings...drove a total of 580 miles in 5 days....300 of which were in the wrong direction!!

If you like burgers I would recommend Chucktown Tavern in downtown. Small place, great service and unbelievable burgers....I used a restaurant.com there...

JessicaB~ Have you clicked on the links to the blogs above...(above the very interesting discussion on "cake balls")!!...They were so informative when I started here.... also there is a discussion somewhere on arrival to A school....

hahaha Emily.  I wish he would take that initiative.  NOPE.  I know he hasn't had time since Power School started, plus he probably has to get throught the physical therapy first, then once they decide if he is helped or not they may recommend that he goes off base.  I'm sure there is some procedure to follow.
