For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Comment by Zazzws on March 22, 2010 at 10:10pm: Thank you for the warm wishes NicksMom! I hear that the cell phone reception in the barracks is bad so it's best to get the bunk by a window. There is a shuttle from the school to a nearby mall. Where is a good place to buy a laptop? Does the NEX sell them?

Comment by Zazzws on March 22, 2010 at 8:56pm: Will's bus leaves GL for O'Hare 0200hrs. tomorrow. The plane leaves at 0830. The last he heard is his MM "A" school starts Friday. We'll see if that happens. I plan on waiting to send him his electronics until he gets a permanent address. I encouraged him to get a mail box at the NEX. They accept packages and that would help getting stuff to him sooner. I know he will be really busy so I don't expect to hear from him much. I will write to him often and I bought some WW II era Navy stamps to pay postage. Students are allowed to have "personalized" bedding so we will send him a quilt to remind him of home.
Anyone have suggestions how else I can support him during his first 4 weeks at GC?

Comment by Kimber on March 21, 2010 at 8:28pm: Thomas left this afternoon for South Carolina. We just got back home to southeast Ohio. I heard from Thomas.. He said they were dropped off at the airport at 0300 and he was able to grab about 4 hours shut eye at the USO there. What a wonderful weekend! I am so very proud of him as I am all the others. Now for A School and nuke school.

I called my son but he is taking a college entrance test then has watch the rest of weekend possibly so I looked up the number in my phone# directory.
