NS- I talked to his Dad last week and he still hadn't received anything yet. He told me as soon as he heard something he would let me know. I'm glad to meet others that are in the same situation! Good luck with planning your move, if you need anything let me know, I did quite a lot of apartment hunting down there. It can take a while especially if you are looking for a job before making the move. I started looking in the spring and I'm just now getting ready to move!

WolfpackGirl- We are in the same situation!! My boyfriend left November 9th and I am hoping to move there ASAP! He wants me down there by end of February but not sure if that can be arranged so soon. Is it possible his mom or dad could have received the form letter? I got his in the mail on Monday (11/15) so exactly a week ago now.

NS & Amanda - I am also a Nuke girlfriend. My boyfriend left for boot camp on Nov 9th, and I am still waiting on the form letter. I am guessing from what I have read on here that he will have a PIR date of 1/14/11. Hoping to get that letter soon! We are also planning to get married, hopefully this summer after A-school. I am moving down the Charleston in a week as I was able to find a job down there. I am new to this website and haven't quite figured out all the features, but feel free to friend me on here and we can chat about everything! I would love to get to know others going through the same things!

You know, I don't know. My boyfriend just started Power School. I think I've heard they get their orders 2 months before Prototype ends? And besides a few days for paperwork, then just before then! Probably better safe than sorry and do it within the first few months of starting Prototype.

amanda- thanks!! Also, how far in advance do you need to be married in order to be on his orders for when he is stationed?.. And when does he get those orders? If you know please help! If not.. thanks for helping as much as you did! Love all the girls here everyone is so supportive and willing to help

I have gotten my bachelor's degree completely on-line and I am getting ready to get my Master's the same way. One university was in Arizona near my home, but the other one is in Texas. Look on-line for On-Line College degrees. You will be surprised by what you find. Education is getting much more flexible and very competitive.

NS- I'm currently still a girlfriend with plans to get married after prototype. Possibly before but just a courthouse paperwork ordeal so the Navy says yes, you're married, here's your benefits but to us, we'll still be engaged.
I'm not sure how much help I can be since I don't currently live in Charleston (I go to college in Wa state) but I do know that during A-School and Power School (the first year and some collectively) he will have to live in the Bachelor Quarters (BEQ) if he is not married, no exceptions. On phase 1, for the first 4 weeks of classes, he will have a curfew of 1am on the night preceding a school night (I think? been a long time) so he can go wherever he wants but must be back by then. On Phase 2 he can stay off-base overnight on a night not preceding a school night (friday and saturdays and holidays) only by special request, then on Phase 3 he must be back by 1am on the day preceding a school night (technically Monday morning) and doesn't need to have it approved.

As far as getting married, in order to be on his orders come the end of Prototype, you have to be married. Getting married during prototype is not really ideal considering his hours so if you're serious about it, discuss doing a ceremony during his leaves after each set of schooling is over (10 days after a-school, 2-3 weeks after power school) or during his christmas leave (either a week or 2 weeks depending on where he's at in schooling). If you don't care about a traditional wedding ceremony, then just whenever you guys can get to a courthouse lol

Feel free to friend me here or facebook if you'd like (I can send you a private message to find me on facebook). I'd love to know another girlfriend :)

I'm new to all of this but I was just wondering if anyone here was a Navy girlfriend when your sailor went to A-school and through the Nuke traning process? We are planning on getting married eventually not sure when exactly but we talked about it in great detail prior to him leaving. He is currently at RTC with a PIR date of 1/14/11. I am just wondering how all of this will work once he is in Charleston for A-school and so on. I know what schooling he has to do and where it will be but not sure what my experience will be like. I am planning on moving to Charleston ASAP once he is down there.. yes all on my own. I have a lot of family near by and am used to living alone as I am doing it now while he is at RTC. If anyone has been through this experience before please let me know what it was like!!! Thanks!

I'm moving up next Saturday and I was wondering if there are any pictures of the housing? I've seen the few on the website but I wanted to see the entire place, not just the 2 story houses.
