EMC(SS) Thanks for the further info. I did understand about the Christmas break but the rest was very informative. Thanks.

Dana, for Power School the rotation is 8 weeks between classes with the exception of 2 weeks around Christmas which freezes the overall calendar. When we number them it is by year and when they classed up in it. So every year has between 6 and 7 classes in it (1001, 1002, ... 1006, 1101, etc).
We have to fit federal holidays into the overall schedule, so the more days off the less study halls they have available, we have also canceled the class picnic and Bowman Cup do to too many holidays. This is because the overall schedule of 24 weeks can not change as it is set years in advance and has an affect on everything in both directions if it shifts.

They are a combined "class" that includes all the rates, but each "section" is made up of a single rate. Generally sections 1-3 are EM, 4-5 are ET and 6-11 are MM. Each section between 25-35 and class about 300-350 total.

There is a Power School graduation on Sept 3. The next Power School usually begins the monday after a graduation but as this is a Holiday weekend (Labor Day) they might not start until Tuesday. They usually have math refresher classes for those that scored low in A school and then briefing for all on Thurs/Fri. with actual classes starting the following Monday. At least this has been the pattern for the last 6 to nine months that I have been watching. As always things could change. There are always three Power Schools going on at a time with an 8 week interval between starts (and Graduations).

Hi, all, I'm new to this as a Navy stepmom. I posted this over at Nuke Moms, but I now see that this group is a bit more specific. We hear from our guy that he graduates from A school at the end of August. To be frank, I was a little surprised that there was another ceremony so quickly that would require travel. As our guy is not the most communicative, I'm trying to get more information on this graduation--is it similar to the bootcamp graduation? Dressy. Any guidelines, advice, or suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

Thank you guys! That's great information. And no, no plans for him to get married anytime soon (I hope!!! LOL) He's only 19, so he'd got plenty of time to think about that!

They don't take all the BAH for single sailors. They divide the montly rent among how ever many people are in the house.

Just so you guys know having them move off base for prototype is part of the test of going to prototype. Its to make sure that they can in fact survive out in town, still make it to work on time with a clean uniform and not get themselves into trouble.

Txnukemom-don't worry..i'm sure they will brief him along the way..he has PLENTY of time to think about it..lol and if he happens to get married before he's done with power school, he has the option to move out of the BEQs too :)

Thank you Kathy! He actually just starts A school today, so it's a little ways off. I spoke to him yesterday though, and he said he was pretty sure he had to move after power school, but wasn't sure. He knew you guys would know!!! ;) Thanks!!!
