Another question. I have marked off with my company to make arrangements to take my son's car to him July 17th weekend. I understand that to earn the privileges of his car, it will be a minimum of four weeks in school and even then, he may not be able to have his car. As I stated, he said he may not start A school for 2-3 weeks. If in fact in takes longer for him to actually have the privileges, will I still be able to make arrangements to drop the car off on base, even if he can't drive it? Sorry for all the questions, but I'd like to finish up my planning of the weekend with airfare, hotel, etc.

Also, would we even be able to spend time with him that early in his schooling (if everything goes well and he's hopefully on his 4th or 5th week)??? I'm presuming they're waiting for more recruits to come out of bootcamp which is why they delay the A school? Sorry if all of these questions are repetitive to everybody!

NicksMom, from what I understand, MM's A school is 3 months, and than he told me today on the phone, he may have to wait up to 8 months to start power school??? Also, after A school, do they have a week of liberty or do you know?

Yes, I've been researching the nuke program over a year now, and I know it'll be intense. My sons typical nuke material. Always tested high, but never really studied in school, content with B's and C's, never brought home books, went to college for two years after high school, again, never really studied, barely made it through, had no focus. Played video games constantly. This is the first time he's had direction and focus, and I pray that he does great in A school, but I know it'll be a change for him to have to 'learn' how to learn.

I thank all of you for your support, and hope I don't become to bothersome!!!! I'm enjoying the daily contact with him after him being in bootcamp for the past eight weeks, but also know that once school starts, it'll be alot less frequent. Thanks again!!!

Angela,
thanks for the info. I got him all his stuff at the airport and noticed he was already FB'ing last night (while we were still driving back to TX after having to stay an extra day to get him his stuff at airport). From what he thinks, he'll start A school in a couple of weeks.

Also, hello to all of you. My son chose MM and is excited about starting his education. Although I've been on N4M's since April of last year, I feel like a new member as starting A school has been a looooong time coming.

Ok, I called the hotline and all and she gave me a few names of some clinics. I'm just worried that it'll be a LOT of money whenever we go to the doctor! I've heard lots of horror stories already and I'm not sure if I should switch to prime or keep standard

Kristen- You'll make appointments for them at branch medical through the appt hotline if they are enrolled in Prime. If they are in standard, then you can pick whoever you like offbase. My son is standard, and we take him to Palmetto Peds off of University.

My son had the choice of Sprint for phone internet service or Comcast for cable internet service. He and his roommate chose cable service and are happy with it.
