@sighthndlady~ well my mom would be flying so it would be somewhat better for my dog( i would think) faster trip....
also i know in california if you get caught leaving your animal in a vehical windows down or not they will fine you regardless if there is shade or even if it isnt even hot outside.

~hmm well i would probably do MOST if not all of the driving anyways...my husband isnt big on driving any more than an hour...and the last long car trip i drove was to texas and i went 13 straight hours.... (well with 3 maybe 20 min stops to eat). we got there in one day though....with the baby i know i couldnt do that to him. he would be soo mad having to be buckled in that long

you ladies are so helpful! i'm so glad i joined N4M :]

thanks for the advice! everyone...i have a husky she is really small though, about the size of wheaton terrier (med size).
@sighthndlady~you are only allowed to drive 350 miles a day...u arent even allowed to go more than that? because i could do the trip in 3 days...is that a rule?
@desertordessert~she is just over the limit to go inside the cabin with us... i was thinking i could leave her at home till december when my mother was planning on visiting and have her come then. the airlines do have restrictions here in Cali from late may thru august on animals in cargo...

i was also wondering though..does the navy have you register your animal with them in any way, and does the quarentine period apply to us since we are moving within the states?

not sure yet...most likely navy move since we are moving from so far away and that would be a VERY long drive with a two year old

Thanks OneL04 it's good to hear I'm not the only one dealing with the frustrations of A School. But it sounds like you came out on the other side doing ok so that gives me hope! We're also part of the "older" crowd too. I'm 28 and he's 25 so I'm hoping the maturity level will help things in the end. For now, it's a wait and see game. Thanks again :)

i'm getting kinda frustrated with this....
i'm looking for information about moving with your animals... i only have one dog.
i keep finding "useful sites" untill i find out it's a dead link.
does anyone know anything about this. we are moving from Southern california to GC the first week of july and i'm concerned that it will be harder to move her since it will be pretty hot.

Just read the comments before about their sons/husbands/boyfriends changing and I know how you feel. Courtney, A school is rough and Power School is even worse (as far as hours put in). This all just in my experience also but my boyfriend has mentioned that other people are really struggling and I'm sure it can be extremely frustrating. It's like being in college and having a full course load times 3 filled with all of your hardest classes all at once...exams all the time...a thousand hours (roughly) of homework a week...and a girlfriend who wants some of your time too (lol)...it can all be so exhausting and we know sometimes the people closest to us take it out on us. Matt graduated from college and then enlisted (so he is beyond old compared to everyone else) but he's doing pretty well as he graduated with an engineering degree and all of this stuff if pretty routine but some days he gets upset or angry and can take it out on me because we talk so often. I understand though. I hope it gets better, I'm sure it will. I'll pray for you!

I think the DITY versus Navy move thread needs to be updated, they changed everything while my husband was in boot camp and they are really pushing the navy move. They told us that the DITY move can actually put us in the hole. We are currently doing the DITY move (Half way to charleston!) and it is such a pain.. and my 2 year old is being an angel!

Hey. Quick question for you wives out there, especially the ones that are done with schools. What's life like at the first station for someone on carriers? Whats a typical day like for him?

I'm new here and just wanted to say hi. My son got to Charleston Tues. and is settling in- and glad to be away from crazy Chicago weather! I think he said he starts school next week or the week after.
