Welcome proudwinavymom to the Charleston group! You might want to join the nuke moms group since it's more active.
Here's the link:
Unicorn - since Friday is a holiday it's a good chance they won't fly out still until the weekend. But I can't say 100% for sure! Hopefully your SR can get some better info before PIR so you can plan accordingly.
And like PacNWmom said - come on over the nuke moms group as it is way more active than this page!
Hi Unicorn Navy Nuke Mom - My son graduated last year on 11/10 after PIR we had the day but he had to be back at GL that night -then he shipped out to Goose Creek on 11/11 so we went to the airport- O'Hare to spend time with him before he left.
Unicorn Navy Nuke's Mom - Head on over to the "Nuke Moms" group. It is very active and provides LOTS of info and support.
In answer to your question: Most Nukes fly out on Saturday after PIR. They usually won't know until the day of PIR when their flight leaves and from which airport (O'Hare or Midway). Many leave in the wee hours of the morning. You can accompany them to the gate by getting a pass at the airport.
Welcome!
Hello,
My SR has PIR on 11/09/17 (Thursday--due to the holiday) Does anyone know for sure if they will travel to Goose Creek on Friday?????
purple16 - I am so sorry to hear this is happening. Have you tried talking to a supervisor at UA - maybe if you get a sympathetic person they might work with you. (If you don't get anywhere with them I would even try calling back and asking for another supervisor.) Otherwise this might be a tough lesson learned - we always fly SouthWest because they don't charge a change fee (just the difference in the flight if any) or you should consider purchasing insurance in the future. You will find that nothing is set in stone with the Navy and you will need to be flexible (and unfortunately that can be very costly).
My son is attending Nuke school in Goose Creek, SC He was scheduled to graduate A school and take leave on 9/22. When they evacuated the base due to the hurrican they moved his graduation and leave to 9/29. Now I'm in a fight with United Airlines because they want to charge me $200 to change his flight home. Anyone have any suggestions on how I can avoid this outrageous charge?
just wanted to check in:
Today marks the 4th month of Mike's(my husband) passing from here to heaven. It is still hard to believe he is actually gone, though all the weeds in the garden remind me as do the orchids in the sun room and the empty bed next to me. I am OK and staying busy but evenings are hard. My sailor is in Japan and has sent many, many wonderful pictures....even the compartment hotel made it....the lights at the night places in Tokyo are over the top....he even sent a picture of a moth!! I did receive his mailing address and I am thinking the ship is soon to deploy.
My two youngest children are each moved into their new homes; we are preparing for an early December wedding; and another grandchild coming the end of January.
Ukulele classes will begin this month and I do enjoy teaching them!
For those new to the pipeling: it is stressful for all involved, but it is all OK and as I look back, the time is flying. Be an encourager and up lift them in prayer.
Have watched all of the "Murdock Mysteries", "Foyles War" and am working through "Father Brown".....all on Netflix! I have enjoyed the mysteries because of the historical aspects and the character development. I'd be open to any other series on Netflix that you have enjoyed.....please exclude suggestions that use crude language, sexual innuendo, and violence.....
Happy "football" season to all!!!!!
StacieG5 - come on over to the Nuke mom's page and post your question there - it's more active than this page!
