Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Information Letter

Posted on September 18, 2017 at 6:38pm 6 Comments

Hi everyone! So my daughter left Monday 9/11 to Great Lakes and it's been a week and still no letter that I was told I would get with address and graduation information. Can anyone chime in on if this is normal or not??? How long does it usually take?
Thanks in advance.

FutureSailorB...sMom, I see you have changed your Username; you may also want to change the URL to this page. Make change 2 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile)  (clickable link) to take care of that. (If you are using a Smart phone, you will need to switch to Desktop View to make this change.)

Also make change 3 while you are there so that this page is no longer open to EVERYONE (Anyone) with access to the web.

There may be other changes you need to make as well (change 4???), so read and consider each of the changes.

I see you have joined NUKE moms; you may also want to check out  Nuke A School FAQ. You may want to check out https://www.facebook.com/Naval-Support-Activity-Charleston-SC-1549626935313525/.

The Rating Information Card for NF can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/usn/enlisted/rating_info_cards/nukepower.pdf. (If you get the security warning, it is safe to go there.) Your Sailor will most likely fly out to "A" School the day after PIR. Plan to leave late Saturday or on Sunday. See PIR Day and Liberty during PIR Weekend to help you know how to plan your weekend.

Your Sailor may have Prototype in Ballston Spa, NY; if so, join Moms/Dads/Families with Nukes in Ballston Spa, NY at that time. Some stay in Charleston.

Welcome to Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones). I look forward to sharing this journey with you. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) for information on what to expect and to help you prepare for PIR. Start with OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) and Arrival and What Happens at the RTC and read 1 or 2 pages a day and then go back to them as you need the info.

Take care and blessings to you and yours.
