Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

From what I have been told: after OCS, your LO can be starting SWOS the following Monday after OCS graduation to 3 weeks after graduation (depending on when SWOS classes start...?) After graduating from SWOS ( 6 week course..?) I believe your LO will get assigned a duty station or ship soon after that which should be when you will be able to move (from my understanding) I hope this gave you answers to your questions rather than add more questions to the pile you already have!:)

Comment by egbot on September 2, 2010 at 9:18pm: Regarding where to stay, we stayed at the Marriott Residence Inn in Middletown. Very nice. Not very expensive and a two bedroom can accommodate up to 6 people so it can be cheaper per person. Also, they have a very nice free breakfast and it is not a continental breakfast - they have eggs, sausages, freshly made waffles, cereals, potatoes, etc. On Friday, the day of graduation, we got to the base at 5AM for the run and demonstrations and then went back to the hotel to have breakfast, shower and change and then went back to the base for graduation. The hotel was maybe 5 minutes away from the base!
