I'll move wherever he is after I graduate- by then, he'll be through his second sea duty and onto shore duty so I'm not sure where he'll be! We're getting married before then, so we'll be apart for a couple of years of our marriage, but it'll be worth it :)

Well... haha. His ship is currently deployed. So, they sent him to norfolk on temporary duty for about thirty days until his SWOS date (which he'll actually go back this weekend to Newport for). Then, when he completes that, he'll fly out to meet his ship and help sail her home. Hopefully he'll be home by Christmas :/ but we don't know when she is due back. It's frustrating because we don't understand why he couldn't have done OHARP while waiting for SWOS- but none of the SWO's in his class got OHARP. Boo! He was able to take a few days of leave to come home and surprise visit me for a weekend, which was nice. He really likes Norfolk though. I went with him after graduation and stayed there for about five days until I had to get back to my hospital (I'm a student in vet school) and it was wonderful! I highly highly recommend the area- the base there is absolutely enormous and there is a HUGE navy community, on and off base! He gave me a tour of the base and he showed me a bunch of the ships- there are SO many there! DF is excited to actually get to meet up with his ship- right now he feels like he's doing the infamous "hurry up and wait" sort of thing!

Tim did the same thing when he first became a candi-o- he wasn't sure so he had me wait. It was hard because I wanted to spoil him and send him all sorts of goodies! But I only had to wait a few days and they stopped screening their mail so I was able to go ahead and send whatever I wanted :). It was worth the wait! :)

Class 28 actually wore the "blue digis" (what they call the camouflage fatigues in the navy) as well. Apparently, they're supposed to be very comfortable- all the guys in 28 complained when they had to switch over to khakis! So we should be glad they switched ;). The whole navy is switching to the blue digis for their working uniform- I think the process is supposed to be complete around December of 2010. The East Coast is switching first (why OCS has already switched) and it's moving to the West Coast. That was bad for Tim, he had to buy the wash khakis and then the blue digis right away since he went to a ship in Norfolk! Tim's class (27) was very proud of being "the last" for a lot of things- the last class with their DI, the last class to wear khakis as OC's, the last to go through the entire old curriculum, etc., so on their class shirts they put "They will remember the last."
As far as candi-o's with packages go- I asked Tim and he said *most* candio's can, but it can vary with class teams so be sure to check with your LO first!!

I know when I was up on base for graduation, we would randomly lose reception ALL the time at the lodge, and when my fiance had his cell phone, he would randomly not get texts or the phone would cut out when we were talking. EVERYONE I talked to had cell phone troubles, no matter the carrier. But, the nice thing about cell phones is that (as long as they have the time!) They can call back :). There were times I would literally have full signal one moment and the next have none- and I wouldn't have moved an inch. So weird!

Best of luck to everyone in what sounds like it's going to be a busy weekend :) I was going to second what Marsbars said- my guy wasn't sure if they were starting 3 week Indoc in October or November, but he *thought* it was October- so if 06 was the first 3 week indoc class, they won't get phone privileges for three weeks, as indocs are not allowed to use the phones unless it's an extenuating circumstance. I'll definitely be praying that it doesn't start for awhile though and that it was just phone problems!

Tim's class started off by having on base gym liberty and slowly working up from there- his last weekend (week 11) he had overnight liberty which we very much appreciated!!!! They usually start with small amounts of liberty and work their way up- but I know they guys appreciate any chance to get out of the tiny part of base that OCS is in!

11 is a lot to have fail the first time around, so my guess would be that even if (well, when, we're thinking positive :) ) the other candidates pass, they may not secure them. Tim said it sounds like they will wait to secure them as candi-o's, but if they all do well on navigation and pass the re-inspect they may decide to secure them!!!
A secured class is eligible for liberty, but usually liberty plans are pretty last minute- like when I went up the week before graduation to visit Tim, we found out the Friday night I got in what his liberty would be for Saturday/Sunday/Monday (it was labor day weekend). So they may get some liberty, though it would probably just be on base to start! Liberty is always the choice of the class team- sometimes they may just have gym liberty where they all have to go to the gym and work out, sometimes it is on base (or to certain parts of base), and sometimes it is off (they have to take a buddy with them).

Here's the pics from Tim's graduation... I posted them before but I think a lot of the newer moms weren't here yet. This'll give you an idea of what people wore to graduation :)

If you look at that picture, that's what marsbars and I and one of the other wives wore for Hi Mom's- and like I said, there were some people dressed up more and some dressed up less :)
