CindyDiv945,
I never got my letter about graduation with the base pass and such. I contacted the RTC through their website but by then it was too late to do anything. Luckily our hotel had a shuttle to the base PIR morning so we never had to worry about getting on the base. You might want to contact RTC and let them know you did not get your info before it gets too close to the actual PIR.

Cynthia,
I will keep your son in my prayers. I am sorry it did not work out for him to come home. But I will bet you his uncle is so proud of him and watching over him.

Everyone else,

GO NAVY!!!!!

The Navy is one big family. This I know from my husband. They do take care of their own. You will find the family atmosphere once they get to their first duty station. He just retired after 20 yrs and 12 days on 12/31/08. He was the LPO in his division. But when it comes to boot camp, it is different. Boot Camp I say is a indoctrination to the military life. And it is much needed.

NicholasN,
Yes you would still be welcomed here as far as I am concern. What to expect. I can tell you from my experience. Letters from my son every other word was a swear word. The pay phones are crappy and that is if they work. Probably not much difference from what you know from your Marine days. And by the way THANK YOU for your service.

A similar situation happened when my hubby was in the Navy. One of his kids had a sister who was stationed in Bahrain and she was killed in a traffic accident there. My hubby was the LPO for their division and everyone knew the situation and they collected enough money for his plane ticket and passport for him to fly to Bahrain because at the time she was still on life support. Can he get on a Military flight from there?

During Navy Week(Aug31-Sept5) there is a Navy Band Public Performance at the Creekside Rotary on Tuesday in Gahanna from 7-8:30pm...any idea where it is located????

Re (A's Mom) THaNK YOU...I let my son know about your offer...and the band doing a shout out....He said he would talk to the fellas.... (I've discovered there's more than 2 of them in the group...actually about 5) Anyway....they went to Red Robin last night, and Chili's for lunch, and then went to a few places last night to "mingle"... One was Ocean Wave or something, near the mall?? and they got in free with their ID...nice, huh?
They are staying on base in visitor accommodations.
Today they want to go to the military museum, and someone told them to go to Indian springs, or Indian something? ...I didn't understand that... everyone has been so NICE to them the way.
They are all from Jacksonville NAS.
Thanks for your advice!
