Welcome Sherrie - I know how you feel. I have a son who just went back in after doing 4 years and getting out. He was out for a year, got married, and he and his wife decided they liked Navy life better. My daughter joined last July and is in Washington state right now. I am so happy for both of them - but I miss them. Especially my daughter since she is SOOOOOOO far away and it won't be like I can just go visit whenever I need to see her!!! Keep in mind as your son leaves that the bootcamp time is the hardest because we just don't have that freedom to talk to them when we want to. Even just the simple opportunity to send an email cannot be done while they are in bootcamp. But the time goes fast - write to your son everyday if you can. Just a little note from home will let him something everyday in mail call. Once they are out of bootcamp then we get to have communications with them a little easier. And reach out to talk to the other moms - we are all in the same "boat" one way or another!!! :)

Whoever said we are experiencing global warmning hasn't been in Northeastern Ohio lately. I don't even like venturing outside to walk to the mailbox!!!! My son was home for the weekend at Christmas. He had to go back to GL and finish is re-enter process. Tomorrow he flies to Colorado to pick up his car and drive to Virginia Beach for A and C school. He will be there for the next 6 months!!! His wife will have to stay in Colorado. My daughter is getting settled into her own apartment with a roommate on base in Washington. Now I have to figure out the most efficient way to send the rest of her stuff to her. Any ideas anyone?????

Amber - I sure know what you are feeling! This is the first Christmas I won't have my daughter home with us for Christmas. Every once in awhile I am just overcome with sadness but I have to keep my feelings hidden. Catherine's twin sister is still home (she's going to college) so I don't want to throw a wet blanket on her celebrations, or make her think that her sister is more important. I know she misses her sister but it's not the same as a mother missing her chick. And I know my husband doesn't understand because he's not me. He just doesn't feel the sadness like I do. And when we talk to Catherine she is so happy and doing well so everyone is like - oh she's doing so well - end of story!!! It helps me to read comments like yours - at least I know I'm not going crazy and that I'm the only one that feels this way. I am happy for my sailor - I know she is doing a good thing. But she is still my baby girl!!!! I will keep you and your family in my prayers - it helps to know we are not alone!!! God Bless you and Merry Christmas - all the best to you and your family in 2009.

Hello fellow Moms - I just joined this Ohio group. Just moved to Stow from Mentor, but only moved to Mentor 5 years ago from Augusta, GA. I have a daughter who just enlisted in July and a son who went back in the first of December. He did 4 years, got out for a year and decided to go back in but as a different rate. Hope to see some of you at the meet and greet tomorrow!!!

Cynthia: My computer and I have both been on the fritz so I'm not sure I can join you this particular Saturday. I will if I can, but keep me posted as I enjoyed getting together last month!

Cynthia...I will be unable to attend the meeting on Saturday due to the Army-Navy game at noon. Josh's ship the Monterey is to be shown and I'm looking forwarad to seeing it. Count on me to attend the next meeting. Have fun.

Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving as we all have many things to be thankful for even tho our sailors may not be home with us. Josh sent me an E-mail on Thanksgiving saying he had reenlisted for six years, he had already planned to do it on deployment, and that General Petraeus had visited the Monterey and administrated the oath to him and others. Josh was also given a coin from General Petraeus and that made his day (and mine too!) So very proud of the work our sailors are doing to help keep us all safe.

Cynthia...the Army-Navy game is that day at 12:00 and film of the steel beach picnic on the Monterey will be shown. I won't be able to meet the 1:00 time but I can catch up with a phone call to you to see what went on. That is, if it's ok to call you. Thought maybe a chance encounter to see Josh.

Thanks Linda! I want to look into that possibly for Christmas/Birthday since both fall in December.

I have a question for those who were at the Olive Garden last Sunday. Someone mentioned a store at Jeffersonville Outlet that carries a unique kind of underwear - keeps you cool in summer and warm in winter. I thought I would remember the name of it, but I don't. Please let me know if you remember or know of this store. Thanks!
