Jessica, time must be moving on if we are no longer the newest PIR group.  You experienced Mom's advised it would go fast, and so far, so good.  We got 2 rooms at Springhill Suites, Waukegan for $98 each using a AAA discount.  Free breakfast.  The rooms are kind of "new agey" (not my thing) but large enough for my son to hang out, use his laptop, make a snack, etc.  I got it on the marriott website.  I've expressed it before, but I so appreciate this site and the experienced Moms helping out.  I have sent videos (Navy Racks) to my family members, so everyone knows what our sailors are doing and sacrificing.

Try to remember to ask your SR's if there are any in their Division that are getting little to no mail and to pass the name on to you. You can then pass the information on to me privately for our group ANSWER.

Sundays are good "writing many SR's" day for me ;)

goMahvelous that's awesome!  We'll get to meet before PIR as well.  I sure hope everything stays on track for everybody...  By the time we finally get to PIR we will have been through a lot together.  I hope are kids are all still together too.

I just reserved a room at the Holiday Inn Express in Waukegan, Il.  They said it's 4 miles from the base.  I got a double queen room for $108.00 a night and includes breakfast.

Mk, Felicia, and Diannep, you guys are awesome and you as well JessicaB. I love helping on this site and you all have been a tremendous help to me as well. I don't think I could have survived this roller-coaster without the help of all my Navy friends. And I love sharing my talents with anyone who would like some of the ribbons or scrapbook items. It seems that each new part of my sailor's Navy life brings new questions and I always turn to this site for the answers. Then I share what I have learned with all those who have some of the same questions. I didn't know my brain could hold so much lol. But I can tell you my heart holds a lot of love for all my You guys are awesome and I love you all :-)

Jo1- I also work for a school district. So I understand your dilemma! I haven't request the time off yet, still waiting for my official letter. I can't imagine my school not approving it but worst case scenario....I will .call out sick!

Jessica, My son left for Meps on April 4th, and left for Great Lakes on 4-5-11.  Yes, I do have a conflict with graduation on 5-27-11.  I work for a school district and we are allowed to personal days a year but you can't use them on a holiday weekend.  I'm going to turn it in on Monday to our principal with a letter explaining it's a once in a life time event and I'm sure he'll approve it but then it has to go before the school board to be approved.  If not I may just call in sick.

That is my ribbon on my scarf that I wore to PIR in the beginning of March and it was spectacular. I had extra made to send with the BIG package of photos to family members all over the world and they really loved the special touch. Especially after seeing the PIR photos and video we took. Wonderful keepsake.

Next, Lala is making us more unique memories for our family to treasure. So happy your handy there Lala. My talents lay in writing and computers yet I do SO appreciate your tasteful artistic talents. It is one of those things "we" always want to do yet cannot get it together enough to quite finish (maybe just me ~ haha).

Thank you for your support of all our Sailors, best to you and yours as well Lala.

Don't know what I would have done with out your encouraging words and wisdom these past few months!

AND, Blessings and aloha to all you SR families!!!
