My daughter arrived late March 30th. No letter yet for us.  I'm in other groups, just not the leaving in march group.  I've been learning a great deal from all the helpful posters.

Hello ladies I just got B's address from the recuiter. I have not gotten the form letter yet : (. He is Ship 011 Div 180. Sounds like he just missed the cut off for 5/20....its funny other kids that got there the same day as B graduate a week before him oh well...it is good that it is a holiday weekend.

Good point, Lala.  I think the extra day off would only apply to those staying on at GL for A School.  Lately, we have been told different things by RTC FB.  That all GL sailors will be moved over there right after PIR...that all of the rest flying out will fly out on Sat or Sun.  But then I hear on these boards of others who are not moving over to GL and not flying out Sat or Sun, but being held at RTC until they fly out later the next week.  So not sure what to believe anymore.  But for sure, those with sailors staying at GL can pretty much count on some time with their sailors on Memorial Day.  They may have watch during some of that time, but should have some free time also.  It would be worth it to book flights home either Monday evening or Tuesday just in case.

Thank you to Jessica, Lala, Dianne and all the experienced Moms who are providing us newbies with guidance and wisdom.  Your help is invaluable as we enter Team Navy.  IF 5/27 is a go, I wondered about Memorial Day and how that would impact flight costs and availability, liberty, etc.  If we get specific information, we will post it here.  Again, thanks Moms.

Here is something to think about. Sometimes, not always, Sailors may get an extra day of Liberty for PIR weekend when Monday is a holiday (if they are not Saturday Departure/Grad and Go). Monday after your PIR is Memorial Day. I have seen it happen on other holidays. Maybe Dianne or Jessica remember if it did last year. My daughter had just got there the week before so it didn't affect her except she got an extra day to write letters :-)

They do BattleStations from Week/Day 6-5 and beyond into week 7.  This is their final test, they then have their capping ceremony, and are sailors.  I will be starting a BattleStations discussion group up top with info on this shortly.
