Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

It just says Navy because I don't want to jinx him by wareing the "Mom of a US Sailor" one yet! But you know I will have it on after he calls on Friday!

If anyone has a problem getting the pass, try downloading (free) google chrome or mozilla firefox. That usually solves the problem. You can print as many as you like and just fill them in. I took several with me to GL...tucked in different places...just to make sure I had plenty! You don't need them if you take the shuttle to PIR (but I had one in my purse anyway!), but will need them if you drive to PIR and when you return your sailor to RTC if you drive on base (which we were allowed to do on PIR day).

When my boys were younger they went to National BSA Camp in Filmont, NM by Amtrak, there was flooding in the midwest and they could not come back by train so Amtrak paid to fly them back to Michigan. Did you ask Amtrak what they do in that situation?
