Julie: Thank you so much.  I've been looking forward to this (as have you) for so long; I knew exactly what my arrangements could be.  Just wanted to be sure to wait because the tickets weren't refundable.  Guess I waited just a tad too long!  I know things will work out one way or another; I just have to have faith!

I'm hoping that you dear N4M friends will be able to help me with a dilemma.  When booking with AMTRAK this morning, I found out that the tracks are STILL closed from New Orleans to Chicago.  The flood waters have receded but the Corps of Engineers are performing stability tests to be sure that it's safe for passenger trains to travel on the tracks again.  This stretch MIGHT be open by 05/22/11 depending on what they find.  I didn't make reservations.  I tried Greyhound and found up the cost of a one way trip has more than doubled since I last checked.  When all hope was gone I finally checked with Delta to go on the same flight as my ex and son.  Their prices have soared as well.  I knew things would go up the closer we got to PIR but I thought they would go up incrementally, not just jump up sky high.  I'm still terrified of flying so that really is a last resort.  I thought of driving but the trip would be about 23-24 hours & I would be by myself.  Not very reasonable.  I'm open to suggestions at this point and hoping that maybe you can think of something I haven't.  If I wasn't such a mess when I flew I would just bite the bullet and fly but every time I get on the plane it is a very traumatic experience for me.  At this point I have no idea what I'm going to do.  H E L P!!!!

I received a letter from my SR today, He said that after Battlestations they will be in Recruit Heaven and we should hear from them more often. Sounds like they are keeping them really busy with marching and Personal inspections.  He said they all did well in the Gas Chamber and firefighting training.  He has a sinus infection but the Gas Chamber took care of cleaning out his sinuses!! LOL

Good morning all, has anyone heard from their SR this week-end?  I thought maybe we would be able to hear from them this week-end.  :( I am so excited that we are down to single digits today. Has anyone heard from DIV 179 when they are flying out after PIR?

Thank you so much diannep and MommaCindy.  My parents were lucky in that they received no damage at all from Katrina and very little wind.  Katrina did my entire town I live in now in.  I had never seen anything like that in my life and hope I never do again.  Now it seems to be my parent's turn to have to suffer.  They live around the Atchafalaya Spillway in a small town that has a lot of bayous.  I really have no idea how this is going to affect them but the timing of it couldn't be worse.  I really feel like I have to see my son but at the same time my parents home may flood.   They're older and will NOT leave their house.  I hope and pray as well that this water somehow miraculously misses their town.  Thanks again for the prayers.
