OMG, my philosophy on hotels is that if you are not going to spend much time there why spend the extra money.  You can use the extra money to do some extra activities with your son.  My husband & I do quite a bit of traveling on a motorcycle, we look for a bed and an shower and we're good, but I know that's not for everyone..

OMG: If you use Sarge for Taxi service it was going to cost me $65 from Union Station in Chicago to the Quality Inn in Waukegan. All other taxis would have charged $100.  I plan on taking the Metra if I need to get anywhere (someone with us will have a van as well.)  If going outside of Waukegan back to Chicago I was told it was $7 per person.  If I just do that a couple of times it is worth it.  I do NOT want to drive in Chicago; I just drove to an unfamiliar place in New Orleans and it was the most upsetting experience of my life (and I've driven in N.O. before!!!!)

I called the Chamber of Commerce in Waukegan and they sent me a nice packet of info.  Included were three really good maps of the Chicago/Waukegan area, a booklet of things to do in Waukegan, and an insert of dining places in Waukegan with the address and telephone numbers.  The lady I spoke to was very, very nice and spoke with me a long time.  She was the one who told me about the Metra.  The phone number to contact them is 847-623-6800 or you can send an email to Carole Dore, the Executive Director asking for information. Her email address is cdore@cw-cc.org.  Hope that helps!

Ok I spent the entire day online trying to plan this trip. We are not CITY people totaly small town. I think we will go into the city one time. I looked into stuff to do in other places. Libertyville looks nice?? www.lakecounty.org  and www.libertyville.com great info. Also I was thinking I may only stay in the Ramada for one night (first night) then when move to a cheap one. What do you think, it would save about $130 (on our lodging cost) is that worth it? IDK....uggg This is was to much for me....I am not used to makeing this kind od decisions... We haven't even been on a vacation in 6 years.....

OMG- I would rent a car. It will be a lot less expensive than what you will spend for the trains and taxi's. One taxi ride from the airport to your hotel can cost you more than renting a car for the whole weekend.

My emails are disappearing, too!  Eep!  Sorry if I missed anyone's messages.  Send them again or get me at adair.olson@gmail.com!

Anyone see their SR on the newest batch of photos?!

I am having so much trouble with my email on this site. I thought it was fixed but it is not. I cannot send a reply to any messages and when I try to the whole message disappears. If you have sent me a message asking questions or wanting info about ordering the PIR ribbons please send me the message to my regular email address: uniquememorymakers@yahoo.com and include your N4M's name and PIR date so I know who you are. I know several others are having problems with the email on this site as well. :-(  Thanks, Lala
