Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I will happily admit my addiction at pulling this site up often for more tidbits of information throughout my day. I feel like by connecting with you all I feel more a part of what my son is doing!!

JessicaB - odd question for you.....are you a stay at home mom? You always seem to post at the drop of the hat, 24/7. Don't get me wrong!!! Its great for the rest of us since those of you that have been around a while are a wealth of knowledge!! Thank you for sharing with us newbies!!

Comment by D for Megan on April 15, 2011 at 12:07pm: Lisa, there's always a chance that an SR will be delayed for some reason, so yes definitely make sure that tickets or hotel rooms are refundable.

Comment by D for Megan on April 15, 2011 at 11:53am: Well, we do get issued garment bags in BC, however they are poor quality. My suggestion would be to wait until they get to A school. They'll be traveling in dress uniform there, and there will be drycleaners available, and irons and ironing boards in their barracks rooms. If they decide they need/want one after that, it wouldn't be hard to get one to them.
