This is the final test for your SRs.  It is an overnight 12 hr drill that tests them on all they have learned and may encounter when deployed on a ship.  It takes place on the Disney-created USS…Continue

D for Megan, I love it that a sailor is participating in our PIR group.  Thanks for your expertise.  I am hoping your experience of shipping to A school on Tuesday MIGHT happen again.  Not counting on it.

Hmmm... could have sworn I hit add comment, but it didn't show up. If I end up having duplicate comments on here, my appologies in advance.

Proud Navy Mom - the RDCs have no control over what the recruits write, so if your SR says he's loving bootcamp, those are his words.

Glad to hear that letters are showing up, hopefully the rest of us can say the same soon!

OMG, If Midway was cheaper, I would stay with that one.  Midway is further from GL than Ohare is...and probably just a little bit further than Milwaukee is from GL.  But I would stay with the cheaper fare because the distance is not an issue.

BFair:  That is fantastic news!  I would have gone crazy by now not knowing!!!  You're a lot more patient than I am!!!

Ok PIR 05/26/11 folks; my son's girlfriend and grandmother received letters from him today!!!  I'm not off of work so I don't know if I have one but I am sure hoping I do.  He's doing great and LOVING (his word!) boot camp (except for the 2 min showers-LOL), food is ok, lost 7 pounds, etc.  I had to have my ex-husband read it to me so I could imagine my son writing it.  He sounds really positive and upbeat so I don't know if they make them write positive things or if he really likes it that much so until I know for sure I will imagine that he really is liking it that much.  Good luck to all of the other moms on getting mail.

Hello my name is Mmiles and I am also a N4M addict!!  LOL  I always have this site and FB open as well!! I love it!  My friends dont quite get everything I am going through so you have all become my online N4M family.

The Security question call we are getting are because some jobs require higher levels of security. My son is going into IS (Inteligience Specialist) So from the name alone you might be able to see where you woudl need to have a very high level of security clearance. Another area is CT (Cryptology Tech) that needs this level of security.

As for the sisters college address, well these ackground checks are pretty in depth so if she is family and not living at home then they need to know where she is to check her out, since she is his family.

Jo1- yeah I don't really understand the background check thing...he just told me he needed to put people down for references, but I don't understand why he would need the address to the college his younger sister goes to for it? I also don't know if I should be expecting a phone call from someone about it, or if they will actually come to where I live? ....I need to find out the specifics on that subject

LisaF, Sorry, I went to bed after I posted!  Yes, my son is going with IS also.

Something else, I wanted to mention last night. I put his address on stick on labels and printed a whole page.  Then I gave a few to Grandma and others who wanted to write.  I also put mailing labels to us in his first card with stamps.  Maybe he will write cause I made it easy for him!!  Have a good day, everyone!

I always thought they did the background checks before they go in.  My son is going to be a nuke and they did this all last summer.

OMG: That sounds like me too!  The only reason I'm not on here more often is because I'm at work and we're not supposed to be on the Internet.  When I get home I have 3 windows that stay open on my computer; N4M, the RTC Facebook page and Facebook!!!!  They're always open, all I have to do is refresh them and all of your new comments are right there!!!!!  This is definitely an addiction!!!  I think the cure would be a phone call or letter...what do you think?!?!? LOL
