I will say that the #1 thing requested from SR's are funny jokes. They can share them and it boosts moral to laugh along with the fact that your mail does more then we loved ones can imagine.

Hope you do not mind this interruption from the Group ANSWER

 http://www.navyformoms.com/group/answer_adoptasailorwriteeveryrecruit.

Yet since your already talking about PIR & will be receiving  more mail & contact please read on.

If your SR is the religious PO then ask them. They tend to know who is getting mail or not. We would appreciate that.

In research, we have learned that nearly every Divsion/PIR group have some SR(s) that are not receiving any mail or may be in recovery and would truly appreciate & love more communication. If you hear from your/any SR about someone who could sure use some kind encouraging words. Please contact me by message or request to join as described below.

Should you not want to join the group yet have a name(s) for us to write. You do need to friend request me, Hunters_Mom by a PRIVATE message with the SR Name(s) & address.

To join and share, first;, friend Hunters_Mom. .Next, Request to join the groupAfter approval to join (may take a day or two) you can then compose a 'Send Message to Group’, with the envelope icon. You can then send the SR’s name and address privately by 'Send Message to Group’ ONLY, with any particular notes so we may offer correctly tailored words of support in a card, note, or letter to them.

Again, please do not post any SR names, address, information in or on ANY PUBLIC FORUM or even the comments section within our own groups.

All good stuff, Felicia

yes that is what everyone has said but it was cheeper to go into midway and they have alot more time slots to pick from. but is you say it is closer to GL that would be better I guess and I guess it probly is not as busy airport. We are small town people so not sure how hubby will like going into Chicago....
Comment by diannep on April 14, 2011 at 7:53am
OMG:  Did you check Southwest into Milwaukee?  Might be a little cheaper and closer to GL too than Midway is.

we live in a small town...I should just go to the post office and say "give me my mail or else!" LOL

almost time to stalk the mail man!

Ok I have looked at all the sites to buy plan tickets. Looks like Southwest is the cheepest even flying into Midway from Raileigh and they have alot of times to choose from. UGG I am not good at makeing decisions.... I just always second guess myself.... I never feel confident in my choices... I think that is one of my biggest personality flaws... (beside the fact that I can not spell LOL) Oh well I guess that is the way God made me... LOL

My son is in ship 11/div 182. I was at my niece's PIR in Feb.  I was so impressed with everything, from the actual graduation, to the sailors respect to civilians, and their maturity!  It was so refreshing. (However, I did get my cars license plate stolen at our hotel parking lot while we were there!)  I am waiting for some news or a phone call.  I would think he will call his wife, and I expect that. But I have looked at the picture of the day, every day, hoping to catch a glimpse of him.  Good luck everyone on getting to Chicago.  It is going to be a very exciting day!

Moms, thanks for the kind words regarding the 5/26 PIR site.  I enjoyed putting it together with guidance from Jessica.  It has gotten to the point where I can't wait to get homr from work and get on NavyforMoms.  I look forward to hearing what everyone has to say and share our worries and frustrations.  OMG, have you tried expedia or orbitz?  They list all the fares and airlines from your area and you can choose.  Where will your SR be in VA?  Mine is going to Dam Neck and I have not read good things, but once he's there that will be the last thing I am thinking about.  Did you see the post from the sailor who said he had 4 days liberty after PIR on Memorial Day weekend?  IF only.....
