BFAir:   The correct statement from RTC is that only those going over to Great Lakes A School after PIR are GradNGo.  They claim that all others flying out are not called that.  They are called Saturday or Sunday Departures.  I don't know if they still hold some of the sailors flying out until the following week (they used to) but if so, they aren't called anything that I'm aware of.

Yes, the GradNGo's to GL A School do get the weekends with family once they finish moving over there.  Last weekend, some were surprised with overnight stays...which RTC had just eliminated in March.  Go figure.  These were the corpsmen who had the overnights....so not sure what made RTC change their minds on this and don't know if the overnights will continue.

The confusion comes with the RDCs still telling the SRs that they are GradNGo when they are flying out.  I see it on the PIR boards all of the time...

and OMG, I wish that RTC FB staff would get RTC personnel dealing with the SRS in line with all of the terminology.  THAT is where the confusion is.

Comment by CRF230dad on April 12, 2011 at 2:28pm
Even though PIR is now on the 26th the SRs leaving for A school out of state will fly out Friday instead of Saturday. No extra liberty for them... :^( My son's letter FINALLY came yesterday, so glad! He said he made leading recruit petty officer for his division 181, ship 11. We are so proud, cannot wait for PIR. GO NAVY!
