RTC says that the term Grad and go is no longer going to be used. But they told me that when the term was being used it was supposed to refer to the SR's that STAY at GL for A-school. But is was never used correctly. The SR's that fly out to Aschool are called Sat/Sun Departure. I am on both sites and love both. If you ask a question on that site you know that it will be answered quickly and correctly. (Not that on here it isn't) But the answers I get there I feel come "Straight from the horse's mouth" LOL the old saying!

Hi all, I'm so glad that I checked facebook and saw that the PIR group for May 27th is actually on the 26th. I called and changed our room reservation to the 25th. Thank God that we live close enough that I didn't already make plane reservations!

chazzysmom:  For some reason, RTC isn't too fond of this site.  The Navy created N4Ms but there seems to be a competition between it and RTC FB!  HA!  In fact, if you refer anyone on the RTC FB page to Navy for Moms, watch what happens...your comment will be deleted!

But they are right in that sometimes heresay can be passed along on here. We veterans try our best to give you all accurate info as it is reported to us...from our own experiences and from those who are ahead of you.  We are on all of the active PIR sites (which are 8 right now).  One thing that we ARE correct about is this:  Although RTC will tell you that GradNGo only means those staying in GL for A School, the RDCs are still using that term to your SRs to also mean that they will be flying out the next day to A School.  The transition is trying to be made to refer to those people as "Sat or Sun departures" and leave the GradNGos to the GL people.  But we just don't want anyone confused if their SR calls home and says that he/she is GradNGo, and then you find out they are flying out (which means the appropriate term is Sat or Sun Departure).  RTC is working to get everyone up there on the same page with the terms.  In the meantime, we will use them interchangeably!

Hi all, Just to clarify for everyone, from the horses mouth at the public relations at great lakes. Grad is on the 26th thurs. There is no such thing as grad and go anymore, and instead of having more time, we will have less, because most recruits will be flying to their A school friday. The public affairs number is847-688-2405. At least that is what I was told. My son is ship 11 div 181; A school in FL. She said if the graduation was on fri we would have all weekend, so what a big disappointment...the only thing I can say is maybe we can see him off at the airport Fri. Then plan a real visit once he gets to A school. She also said this site was not reliable as the facebook and military site...my sons recruiter didn't even know for sure....hope this helps and sorry for bad news. It'll be ok, once they all get settled in school, they'll be much more relaxed and able to visit more. Barb

Moms and Dads:  Thanks to Lala, Dianne and Jessica for clarifying PIR date.  Get your reservations now.  Marriott.com just told me no rooms at any Marriott in the Great Lakes area for 5/25, however, I got one in Gurnee.  It's getting busy.

It was posted about 30 min ago on RTC Facebook page: To clear up any confusion, the correct graduation day for Memorial Day weekend is Thursday, May 26.

My input:

If you have already made hotel reservations you need to go ahead and change them as well as letting you employer know you are leaving sooner. Hopefully no one made flight arrangements yet. The good news is most of you will get more time with your Sailor's YAY!!!

HI everyone,

I'm a little confused, my son's letter says he is in Ship 11 DIV 183 and graduation date is May 27, From reading all the post their seems to be confusion what the graduation date is. Does anyone know if Ship 11 DIV 183 date has changed.

Also anybody else have loved one on this ship11 DIV 183?

Thanks and be well,

Lisa

BFair, glad to hear that you hubby is recovery ok.  That's scary!

ProudNavyMom, I totally agree that Jessica, Dianne and Lala have been so wonderful.  My sailor graduated BC in Dec. and I don't know where I would have been without them.  They are so sweet to give so much of their time to help all of us who have been so lost and confused while going through this process.

I am now paying it forward, as well.  :)

BFair:  so sorry your husband has been sick.  I did hear from my son yesterday (not to chat, he needed security clearance info) but he did say he and most of his divion (180) are sick.  Just added difficulty, but they are hanging in there.  Although he is sick, he sounded strong.  Best I can hope for.
