I wonder what is going on? My son's sub has been extended to an 8 month deployment and now the Nimitz. I wonder if the Navy understands what that kind of deployment length does to families and as a result does to retention in the future.

We just need somethings for our two sailors from the Steelers. Other gals are working on the Detroit Lions, the Dallas Cowboys and some team or other from Ohio. We have to mail the packages on Sept. 28th.

Anything they will give us. We are getting ready to send care packages to a group of sailors on a sub tender in Guam. Molly's adopt a sailor is sending the packages with a "your favorite Football team" theme. We have two sailors who are part of the Steeler Nation. So anything that comes from the Steelers that tells them they have not been forgotten, is what I'm looking for to put in the package.

Good morning ladies, One of the groups I belong to is adopting a group of sailors in Guam. They are doing a Football theme. I would love to have something from the Steelers. But between the contruction projects around here and having to do 60 pillowcases for my son's sub, I just don't have the time. Does anyone here have any way to get into contact with the Steelers? If you would like to help, I can give you the name of the sailors and my address. I'll take care of the shipping costs to Guam. Its nice to do something for a sailor so far away, even if its not my son.

I got an e-mail from Alex. It was good to hear from him. Still no idea when they will be getting home, but he sounds OK.

I'm having one very tough day. I just found out that my son's sub had its last port call cancelled. So that means no phone call for the near future. Also, their return date has been cancelled and could be put off by at least a month. Instead of seeing him in a few weeks it will be a couple of months.

TWs, I got to go to two PIRs. The one thing I learned from the first one was, wear the most comfortable shoes you own. The second time I went I wore my running shoes. You have a long walk from the front gate. The other thing I learned was to make sure the camera's battery is charged or you have an extra set with you. Have a wonderful time!
