I do wedding dresses, bridesmaids, flower girls, and mothers of the brides. I also do the occasional prom dress. I do alts and on rare occasions a dress from scratch. The usually happens when the bride wants a flower girls dress or junior bridesmaid to match the rest of the bridal party and she can't find a dress that matches. I started doing weddings while we were in the Navy. Being a Nuke, we moved so much that getting a job anywhere was almost impossible. But being a seamstress traveled well. The Navy never seems to run out of weddings. On rare occasions I even did repairs and alts to uniforms.

Heather, Thanks for the offer. LOL My husband is being a huge help. All that good Navy training (even if he was a officer). Word has apparently gotten out that I'm not working for my old company because, the phone has started to ring. Clients are calling to ask if "now that you're not working, do you have time to do my dress". So it seems that I'm back to being self employed. Its nice to be wanted. LOL

Up too? Just about my eye brows in paint, rug cleaning and staging the house. We have 3 weeks until the house is listed for sale. I had no idea I owned this much junk. The major advantage of my husband being in the Navy was that we moved 7 times in 3+ years. There was no time to accumulate anything. After the last 25 yrs in the same house there are things coming out closets I had no idea I ever owned. At least the weather has warmed up. That makes everything easier.

To all my fellow members of the Steeler Nation...GO STEELERS! To those in the rest of the state (Philly that is), join us in the Steeler Nation for a while. You can return to your team in a few weeks.

Once we get the house sold (soon), I'm considering going back to work for myself. I'm a seamstress and use to have my own business. So, the house hunt will now include looking for a place with a space for a studio.

We have some hope of selling because we are in a very sort after school district. The window thing is out, its just too cold this time of year. But we do have a new furnace and new hot water heater. Actually, the job loss thing is turning into a real positive. I now have time to re-paint and do all the minor fix-ups that need to be done. We don't want to put too much into the house because we know we won't get it back.

Hey ladies, I have had one very rough day. First, we are trying to sell our house in the toughest housing market in decades. Then I lost my job, as of today. Fortunately, I don't need it to pay bills. It did however help to keep me sane. Then I talked to my son, who has decided that once we sell this house he will have no home. This is the only house he's ever lived in and so he's kind of attached. I did tell him that Cranberry isn't the other side of the moon and I will send him the new address. Although at the rate we're going he'll be retired from the Navy before we sell the house. Thanks to all of you for being out there for me.

I just got a call from my son. He is heading home from Groton on Sunday. We will have him home for a week. Happy New Year to all.

If your son is still in High School, then he will go into the DEP program. That stands for Delayed Entry Program. They have monthly meetings and activities to get him ready for Basic. During that time he will be able to make friends with others that are also going into the Navy. It gives them a support group. The DEP sailors are lucky because they are much better prepared for Basic. Good luck to your son and stay in touch. You have a great source of support here.

Mid-March would be good for me. We are about to sell our house and will be moving to Cranberry. So, daylight would be good. That way I can check out the area while I'm up there.
