Jess, WOW! I would love any info you have. My husband and I agreed on one after looking at the pictures online, but we plan on driving up first and looking at it before we fill out the application. What town are you living in?

I live in Virginia! We just moved here (: let me know if you need any names of places to live (: and it can be done! We got told we were moving, got married, and moved in the same month. Best of luck to ya!

I'm not sure what *timely* would be considering they told him last week that he had to report no later than July 1st. That gives us a little over a month to drive to VA, look at the places I've found online, drive back here and then pack, move, and such. I've never had to move before so I don't know if it could be done in such a short time span, especially across the US!

Honestly, I would get drink most of the alcohol on hand. I wouldn't let the movers touch my wine collection. It has to be in AC all the time. The moving truck would ruin my reds. Box up the liquor store it in the trunk of your car. Most  states will allow alcohol in the truck of a vehicle. As long as it is inaccessible by the driver.

I know we got advances, but for the life of me I can't recall if it was advanced travel pay or advanced pay. But yes, you can get something if he asks in a timely manner.

Do we get all of the allowances (DLA, MALT, etc.) before our move or do we have to wait until after? If we get it beforehand, my below question doesn't need to be answered, lol!

Ok. I'm here on total information overload so if I'm asking a question that I already have in the past, I'm sorry (lol).

If we ask for advance BAH, how does that work? Does that mean we won't get BAH for a month later on down the line? I know we'll have to pay the advancement back to the Navy out of my husband's paychecks. Any idea how much those payments will be?

*sigh* So many "what ifs", too little time to have them all answered!

Good morning ladies!

Alright, its official! Im moving to VA for 3 months while my husband attends C school. Then we are off to Everett, his permanent duty station!

The movers are coming here this time next month. They will pack our stuff, get it to WA and store it for the 3 months we'll be in VA.

NOW WHAT?!

My husand, being the total man that he is, has been vague on details. He said I cant pack anything myself and to take everything off the walls?

What else do I need to do or know for moving prep? I will be taking a box or 2 of stuff and a few suitcases of clothes and shoes to VA with me but thats it. Will they pack clothes in the closets? or should I box those up? what about kitchen and bathroom stuff? I had heard they wouldnt move alcohol but my husband said he cant get a waiver or put in a special request? What if there are still boxes of books and papers from our last move that we never bothered to unpack? will they take them? or do i need to unpack that stuff?!

SOOO many questions! please help!

Thanks!

Okay, good info. We plan to live off base. We could rent a place, have the Navy move our stuff and drive our car (plus two dogs and a cat) together. Then I'll just fly back to finish my class for a few weeks. My parents live here so that wouldn't be a problem. Thanks Anti M, got me thinking/planning a few alternatives for this less than ideal situation :) We've moved cross country 3 times pre Navy, so I could do it alone... just more fun with him :)

Also, he will get travel days, which do not count toward leave, or the house hunting.
