They won't move any alcohol, drinks of any type, food (we had a dinner party with our friends right before we moved to get rid of some of our stuff), lighters, or cleaning products. So when you're planning what to take in the car with you, make sure you keep in mind space for those items.

Sorry I've been on Vaca (best friend wedding, and personal wedding planning). I know most moving companies won't move open liquor of any type. 2. Wine is very finicky you can ruin most red wines in temperatures over 80 degrees Fahrenheit. 3. I have to rotate my wines every 3 weeks (I don't think they will do that for you). I know most people travel with their liquor in the car/suv. I suggest don't buy an thing new. Drink what you have. Have a nice party and save back only the few bottle of wine and scotch you've been saving for a nice day.  We moved 6 cases of wine on our last move. We were so worried with the crazy weather (110 degrees) it would ruin our red but they were ok we brought them into the hotel both nights.

NOOOO!! Husband received writen orders on monday... he has a C school in Virginia till sept!!! Oh man, I know we are supposed to be good wives and hide our disappointment and stay upbeat but holy cats!! I cried my eyes out!

Now, Im wondering, will the navy move all of our stuff up to WA into a storage unit?

I have been thinking that maybe I'll just take a suitcase full clothes and necessities and move to VA until sept and have the rest of our stuff sent to WA?

has anyone done this? am i totally nuts?

I MISS HIM SOO BAD!!

I've never heard of them coming furnished. You should be able to find lots of well priced furniture on craigslist, airman attic (consignment/thrift shop on the airforce base),

Hey everyone!

I'm new to this group. My husband will be graduating C school then will be going to the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) in DC so my son and I will be moving there as well. He has yet to be contacted by a sponsor.... (he will be detached from school on May 20th) I looked online and found out that summerfield housing (mainly for Andrews AFB) would be our military installation. I was wondering if anyone knows if the houses come furnished? If we can apply for a furnished unit? anything about furniture?! haha

thanks ladies!

Hi Carly! My husband and I are actually in the middle of moving right now. If you want the Navy to move you, you need to call ASAP. When my hubby and I called, they were booked until June, which was unfortunate because we need to move in May. So we are diy. My husband was given www.orbitz-moving.com by his old command. They do all the leg work for you and find you movers. You might have to pack yourself, but its fine. We just finished packing today (Yayyyyyy!). But if you diy, keep ALL of your recepits for the movers, any packing supplies you buy, hotel room, everything. Your husband will need to give them to his new command so that he can get reimbursed. Best of luck, and let me know if you have any questions (:
