Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

Your Transportation Office can help you coordinate your move and will explain PCS move allowances in detail. The Move.mil website is the Department of Defense’s (DoD) worldwide website for managing your move, to include understanding your allowances, scheduling and tracking your shipment and, if necessary, filing claims.

Hi Everyone,
Thanks to Whitney for introducing this group to me. I’m trying to figure out the best moving options for when my husband goes to A school in Pensacola, FL. We still aren’t sure yet if I will be apart of the orders and the Navy will help pay for the move. My husband was told that yes I will because his A school is longer than 6 months but we aren’t sure yet until he gets his orders after PIR in 14 days.
Anyway my question to you that have moved before and had two cars to deal with what did you do for those of you whose husband couldn’t drive the second car. None of my friends can take that amount of time off that it would take to drive our second car it’s at least a 3 day trip from CA to FL. I found a site that will ship your car by train for around $900 which seems reasonable for the service, but if the Navy helps pay for your move and you go with using the movers is there an option with the movers for them to also move your second car for an additional Fee? How does that all work? Is that typically covered in the price the Navy covers? What has been your experiences with moving multiple cars with no additional help?
Thanks, any advice or comments would be helpful. Also if anyone has moved to Pensacola, FL what would your recommend living on base or off? How is the base housing? I read that the area right outside of the Corry station is not very safe? Still not sure if I will even qualify for base housing yet, this may end up being a move all on my own, but good to know my options.
