Do NFO's have to go to Whiting Field or just SNA's?

Comment by Matt's mom on July 5, 2017 at 9:31pm

Our son will be graduating from OCS next month.  He is NFO and will be headed to Pensacola.  He was under the impression that he would be able to live on base.  He has a longtime girlfriend, but she is staying home for the first year.

Any suggestions?

thanks

No one has been on here for a while, but does anyone know how soon my husband can get Liberty while at A school and live with me off base?

If your moving to Pcola for flight school and are married and have follow on orders they will only move to one home so you have to choose wisely. Some chose to live closer to Whiting Field and commute every day for muster to Pensacola for the IFS training. Some choose to live in between the two bases. The on base housing for WF is about a drive to Pensacola and WF "on base" housing isn't actually on base. It's in town. The houses weren't that huge compared to what we lived in for our BAH rates. Pensacola also had some base housing on it but also had more off the base. Again for the BAH you can sometimes find a larger or nicer place for less

Stage of game:
Enlisted v officer
Training location or permanent duty station.

Hurricane, what do u mean by stage of the game? This would be our 1st move.

Comment by Hurricane on July 18, 2015 at 10:33pm
Hi, With on base housing they take all of your BAH, some officers have found you get more bang for your buck with off base housing plus you can make a little money by living under the BAH rate. It's a personal preference for each person. We personally didn't live on base and know tons that didn't either. Some like it. What stage of the game are you in? There are tons of spouse pages out there pending the stage of the game.

Hello, I'm new to this. Is it better to live on base if you have a family or off base?

Comment by Sweet*Southern*Lady on August 12, 2013 at 9:27pm

Thanks Hurricane!

For the wings, he will not receive those until after advance. So once he selects his platform it'll be after that platform training.
