Just got "the letter" today!!  It was great to see his handwriting and hear how things are going.  He had "6 minutes" to write and managed to get a full page in before he had to go!  It sounds like it's going well and I can't wait to see him at PIR!!

Any one else out there with an SR in the same ship/div?

Hey there SubMom...My daughter is in Ship 12 Div 370...she told me that her company is an "Integrated" company and there is definitely males in the group...somehow or another...I am not sure I remember how all this worked over 30 years ago when I was in bootcamp and things surely have changed since then...but I belive our Sailors are connected somehow (smile)....We are traveling from Memphis, TN area...in fact, I retired from the Navy headquarters (BUPERS) in Millington back in 2007....We have not decided our travel plans just yet...trying to figure out whether we want to drive (9 hours), fly and do the rental car thing or do the train and then the rental car thing...so confused...My bootcamp was in Orlando, FL so I know nothing about Great Lakes but we are getting ready to learn...have no intentions of missing PIR....I rec'd just last week THREE letters from my daughter...and it was awesome...things seem to be going well and she is adjusting...Her biggest challenge so far was the swimming...but the very next letter that I read said that she conquered it...(smile)...she just heard my voice and sucked it up and did it....Sorry to ramble ... but I have not been online in awhile so it is nice to connect with others who are going through....Have a great Sunday!

Hi there Graceism, our sailors are definately connected!  I hear that things are going well, my son is very tired, but enjoying it and making friends.  I booked our tickets last week and can't wait to go!  I checked into "refundable" tickets and they were 4 times the price of a regular ticket!  I just booked the cheaper tickets and am keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn't change!  I still have to do the rental car and hotel.  We are coming up from South Florida, too far to drive!  I was watching some videos on line of the PIR and I am definately going to have to buy some waterproof make up!  It is going to a very emotional day, to say the least.  I just hope that we get some time with them on Friday.

Where is your daughter heading for A school?

Hey tehre SubMom....boy you are so far ahead of me in the planning your travels...I am torn to whether to try and stay through the weekend and enjoy Chicago after the graduation or come back when the weather is warmer (smile)....I am looking into the train as our mode of transportation because we are not interested in physically driving 9 hours...although the train will take an hour longer it will not be as tiring and we will have a sleeper ....but it will come together...The older I get the less I enjoy flying but I may need to bit the bullet this one time...we shall see...I will definitely be going with the cheaper tickets and crossing my fingers tooooo. (smile)

She is heading to "A" school in Pensacola...she is going to IT"A" school....my husband and I were just there late last year for a wedding and we were so excited when we found out she was going there...it was very emotional for two old salty dogs like ourselves to see all of those young Sailors just going about their lives at a such a young age...I got very emotional just being on the base.

Well, you have motivated me...I am going to finish up all of the travel arrangements this weekend....thanks for sharing!!! Have a great weekend!

HI everyone, here is an update on the ribbons ;-) For everyone who ordered ribbons to wear to PIR they have all been shipped even the ones that were ordered last night and this morning. You should have them within 2 to 3 days. PIR will be here sooner than you think and I know you are all EXCITED about that :-) If anyone missed out on ordering ribbons and would like to get them please contact me ASAP. I have a very quick turn-around and ship Priority mail so there is still plenty of time to get them to wear to PIR. Just send me a friend request on this site or an email to: uniquememorymakers@yahoo.com    Thanks everyone for making my ribbons a part of your very special event.
Has anyone heard a BattleStations date for this division yet? If so, please private message it to me so I can add it to the schedule. Thanks!
