OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

CONGRATULATIONS to all the new Sailors and their families!!

May our Lord grant traveling mercies to all and calm weather/clear roads for the Meet & Greets and most of all, for PIR!!  In Jesus Name, Amen~~

Oh boy....prayers that all can get into town and that PIR will not be cancelled tomorrow.  Don't think that has ever happened in the almost 4 yrs I have been on this site!  Prayers for all!

RECRUIT TRAINING COMMAND STAFF:
As of 0500 we are changing the Great Lakes status for Thursday, 2 January to ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL ONLY today. Road conditions off base vary greatly and with continued snow today possible whiteout conditions on the roadways leading to base are possible. Please contact your respective duty officers for more information as needed.

At this time Graduation will still take place on Friday, 3 January at 9 a.m. Updates will be posted throughout the day to alert staff and graduation guests of any changes.

JORDANSMUM:  Great that he passed!  YAH!  If you miss the Livestream, you will be able to watch it later on video on the same site.

Praying that all are able to get into the airports up there today...I know the weather is not cooperating and lots of cancellations at OHare, I heard.  But never give up!  :-)  Hoping the weather settles down and allows all to get to their sailors!

Safe Travel, enjoy the MeetandGreets tonight, and be EARLY to PIR tomorrow (gates open at 6:30, PIR Hall at 7).  We were on a 6:30 shuttle from our hotel, and in PIR Hall a little after 7.  Already people in there.  Best choice of seats in your division section if you get there early.  We had no regrets and would do it the same way again!

Enjoy!
