OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Good Morning everyone, Happy Christmas Eve. I know it's hard with your recruits away at boot camp but I hope you are enjoying the holidays and spending some time with other family members. One thing I am sure of, your recruits would want you to be happy and celebrate this time with your family. Take lots of pics so you can share them with your recruit. Maybe even make a "Flat Stanley" of your recruit and have him in some Christmas pictures. Then send one to your soon to be Sailors. I bet they would love it :) In case you don't know what a flat Stanley is here is a description :) Enjoy, have fun, and God Bless you all <3

Flat Stanley can be a boy or you could make it a girl. You draw it and decorate it however you like. Then he/she goes on an adventure. You could take him shopping, to the park, to dinner, to visit all your family and friends for Christmas, even have him/her at the Christmas dinner or wrapping or opening a present. Take pics and then send a couple of the best ones to your recruit. My niece was doing this as a school project when my daughter was joining the Navy. She mailed Flat Stanley to us and we took him to the going away party and to MEPS and he joined the Navy as well lol. Then we made him a Sailor outfit and mailed him back to the school. It was a lot of fun taking all the pics and writing about his adventure in boot camp :)  There have been several moms on this site who did this and then took flat Stanley to the Meet and Greet and PIR. It was a lot of fun to see all the pics and their Sailors really got a kick out of it. Anything to make them laugh or put a smile on their face and to put a smile on your face as well. {{{{{HUGS}}}}} Merry Christmas

Betsy..I am glad to hear that everyone is doing okay.  I believe it will take some time for your daughter to not be frightened about driving, but she will be okay. :)

Thank you all for your encouraging words and prayers. Don't know what I would do without all of you. PIR is coming fast. I have a 16 year old at home and yesterday he expressed how he is missing his brother. We will get thru this! All of us. Merry Christmas Friends.

Good morning and Merry Christmas Eve Eve!!

I got the best Christmas present on Friday. My sailor son, who I haven't seen since April and was not expecting home this Christmas, walked in my front door.  .

Just a heads up that when my SR was at bootcamp, he was allowed to call on Christmas Eve - not Christmas Day.  It is very possible that they will divide up the calls by division over the next 3 days.  So be watching those phones closely starting now!  No guarantees on the calls, of course, but you don't want miss a call because you think they won't call until Christmas Day.  Even if they are told that they can call, many times, it won't happen....sorry to say...they can be promised calls and then not get them.  There are too many SRs on RTC (5,000-6.000+) for all to call home on Christmas.  But fingers crossed that all on this group will be allowed a call within the next few days!

Good Morning.. Almost Christmas.. not expecting a call today. I am banking on Christmas day. He said that looks promising. So getting the whole family up to the house so we can speaker phone and share some Christmas joy.

It is heartbreaking when you miss a call. I can't wait to talk to our SR! So 909 is in week 7 I'm supposing? Busy week for them! My SR's mom is coming over today to make rumballs so hopefully we'll all get to talk together and we'll have a longer conversation!
