~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

"Real" calls won't come in until about a week after the first letters. After about the third Training Week. That varies too.
BUT, ou may also get a short business call for Security Clearance info like Buffetblvd did.
Watch for "847" area code, "PAY PHONE" or "US GOVERNEMENT" on the caller ID.
If you miss a call, please don't call the number back. Recruits are not allowed to receive calls and it could get them in trouble. If it is for info, they will call back if they really need it.
Thank you ladies for posting.
Yes, some of the earlier Divisions may have been able to write...we usually see a few "real" letters come in early.
But "the flood" will most likely start coming in next week. They usually do not get to formally write until that first or secnd Sunday in their compartment. Depends on "when" they arrive in it.
That first Sunday in their compartment they do not have Holiday Time on Sunday. Holiday time is the recruits "free time" during the week. Writing letters, catching up on things, studying, the girls finally get to shave for the first time that first HT!
That is the basics...there are always variations :-)
My son's girlfriend got a letter today, he said to her that it is not that bad...I BETTER have a letter when I get home...lol...she said he sounds good...I am so glad to hear this....
Well, so far i got the formal Navy letter confirming the PIR on 01/11. She is SHIP 02 DIV 909. I haven't receive no letters, not even a phone call.
I need to know what airline is best to buy and with a chip rate, hotels, transportation, etc. and how long our sailor will stay with the family after their PIR date.
Also, I heard that 900 divisions will come out first on their PIR date. is that true?
Can someone tell me and advise me with best tips for this future trip?
and when I will hear from her? it's so hard for me not to find out how's she's doing in her boot camp.
Anyone, please!!!!! Need Info!!!!
OK.....wheew.....taking a breath here now....sorry if I overwhelmed with too much info....was just trying to answer questions you all asked. Please keep asking! We N4Moms love answering them. Have a great day, Ladies!
NavyMomTina: Glad we can help...that is why some of us have stayed on here long after we had sailors....because we all know the emotional ups and downs of bootcamp! And...sigh....sometimes the men just "don't get" a woman's emotional ups and downs....just a fact of life, right? Vent on here whenever you like! We understand! :-)
Hang in their Tiff, it does get better, but usually not until about the 4th week of training for them (which is about 2-3 weeks before PIR). Chin up and keep encouraging that SR of yours! PIR will be a wonderful day of celebration!
MomChristy: As was posted by others, all of these divisions will graduate on 01/11. However, not all individuals will as some will be asmoed (setback) and some will be discharged. This can happen all the way up to graduation week, so if you can book on Southwest, that would be good. Southwest flies into Milwaukee (45 min into GL, no traffic, cheaper car rental usually) and Chicago-Midway (an hour or more from GL but also one of the airports the sailors will fly out of when going to A School if you plan an airport visit with them).
The 3 MeetandGreets are as follows:
--Sundance Saloon (Sarge's) - about 4-5 miles from base, near the Springhill Suites, Courtyard Inn, Residence Inn, Walmart shopping center
--Ramada Inn
--Flanigan's
All are pretty close to RTC.
Sarge's has lots of PIR info and A School info---many of the GL A School sailors use his transportation service around town and to the airports. He is very wise and also has lots of good info on getting around the area, restaurant info, etc. He also has his own transportation service for those not renting cars. We have never heard a bad word against him! Here's his number again for those wishing to ask about his transportation service during PIR weekend.....text or call:
847 212 0246
The MeetandGreets are held the night before PIR and are open to all family members/friends of the new sailors...kids included! Info on these will be posted here as you get closer to PIR....so that you can RSVP for the one you would like to attend.
