~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Woot! ProudMom -we gotta stick together. ;) haha.
And thanks diannep. I really want to make it but even if I got into town on time, I think I'm going to have to play it by ear since I'm traveling with our 1yr old daughter. Getting up early, flying half-way across the country, airports...that might be more than enough for her for one day and taking her to a meet and greet for a couple hours might be out of the question. So as much info about where to sit at PIR, where to go, things to do, etc... I'll take in as much as you give out! :)
DebbieF: Those moving over to GL A School will have just a little while with families after PIR, and then will move over there...takes a few hours and then they will call you to pick them up for liberty (make sure they have a phone card....they can return from liberty with their cell). They should have daytime liberty with you through the weekend, except for possible "watches."
For those flying out, they usually fly out the day after PIR. They are bussed, like ellen said, to the airports very very early in the morning to wait for flights. They won't have their flight info until right before PIR. You can meet them at the airports and get an airlines gate pass with them....and then wait at the gate with them until their plane leaves. Be sure to have ID. You can meet up with your sailor at the USO at OHare, but if he/she is flying out of Midway, your sailor will need to meet you before security since that USO is past it.
SailorsV'sWife: Sarge's MeetandGreet has lots of good info. I believe it is from around 5 pm to 8 or 9. If you can make it, it would be helpful, but we will be giving you lots of info on here too. If you use Sarge's transportation service from the airport, you can get info during the ride to GL! 847 212 0246
